Hi,
My money program is being a big pain so I wondered if there was anything else I could use?
I basically like knowing exactly what I have in my bank account. None of my friends use a program they just guess what is in their account!!!
What do you use?
Or would I need to make up an Excel sheet?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Would online banking suit you? Or are you after something more elaborate?
I use an old version of Quicken. You may find a copy on Ebay.
I haven't tried them, but you could take a look at Turbocash and Gnu Cash which are both open source and free.0 -
I already do my banking online but I really want a program similiar to money where it add's in all your expenses and then let's you know what you have at the end of the month.
Not sure if it is worth trying to get an updated version of Money as I know the program or try something new.
Will look at Turbocash and Gnu cash. Stebbie xx0 -
I just created a spreadsheet in Excel
on one side I have a list of regular incoming and outgoing payments in date order
on the other side I keep tabs on all the payments as they go out with a 'running balance' and can see at a glance how much money I have left until the end of the month0 -
Just looking at http://www.accountz.com/ think it looks an ok package. What do you think?
Hi Frugallas, you obviously have a very good knowlegde of Excel as I wouldn't know where to start!!! Stebbie xx0 -
not really tbh - I tried Microsoft Money and spent ages inputting all my standing orders and direct debits but the software never balanced with the bank balance - it drove me mad and I realised it was too complicated for what I really wanted - I just wanted to input my bank balance, see what was due out/in and work out what I had left to live on
I'm not very good at formulas etc and only know the basics of excel but it works for me
my boss bought accountz and again, it's okay for a business but too much for home stuff - I suppose it depends how much you want it to do for you0 -
Quicken is good I used ver4 a few years ago and it worked pretty well and had a good interface. Cant comment on later versions though as once I learned how to use Excel to a sensible level it kinda made quicken redundant."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

I used to use Quicken too and it was very good, but when I got a new PC I couldn't find my Quicken CD so I researched the market and chose Moneydance. It's not as pretty as Quicken but it is functional and easy to use.0

I use that, its pretty good, if a little basic, but they are slowly adding in really useful features. I find it easy to use and easy to understand.

I use Microsoft Bob - Bob chequebook. It is a very simple programme similar to Microsoft Money but is a little more colourful. I received the programme with my first computer from Gateway years ago. I just did a quick search and it appears you can download Bob for free.0
