Hi corrsfan,
Welcome to MSE
Tesco do an own brand cream cheese that costs £3.16 a kilo compared with philadelphia which is £6.10 per kilo and in my opinion tastes just as good.
There's an earlier thread with more recommendations that may help:

I'll add your post to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Ah, you got there first again, thriftlady.
I use the Co-ops and they often have it on special offer, but you do need the full fat type, the lower fat make cheesecake too runny.0 -
I agree with the others supermarkets own brand cream cheese is just as good.

BTW Philadelphia (300g) is now on offer in Asda - for £1. I always stock up on it when on offer - the expiry date is usually in several months.
And did you try to substitute half of the cream by Greek Natural Yoghurt (not low fat)? I think a cheesecake is just as good and creamy with it and lower in fat (and price)..0 -
I will have a look out for the tesco stuff next time, if thats the concensus on the best replacement. It will be a while, as i stocked up last time tesco had the phili stuff on special.
thanks for the very quick replies too people.0 -

I've used the Asda SmartPrice one in the past and it's delicious BUT haven't seen any around for ages so have had to get their 'ownbrand' version.0
