i have 2 cd's that have approx 40 jpeg images on each of them. One will open to view the jpeg image, but not the pictures themselves, if you see what i mean, the other, the pc will not even recognised has been inserted.
the cd's are not scratched and have been looked after, but are photos of a family photoshoot taken years ago, and cost us over £1000 so is unreplacable.
anything i can try?
thanks

Get a cleaner for your drive (unless its a laptop then get a soft cloth and gently clean the lens, maybe that will help."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Have you ever been able to view the pics on the CD that is not recgnised? If not, it may just be that whoever wrote the files onto it was using something like Roxio Drag-to-disc and forgot to finalise the CD.
You say (I think) that Windows (a guess that you are using a version of Windows) will display a thumbnail of the file, but not the file itself. What happens if you try to open one. Any error message?
If you can, it would be worthwhile trying the CDs in another PC.0 -
I have just tried to access those thumbnails, and it just sits on the hourglass as the drive whurrs frantically, but nothing happensOk, ok, i need to go back onto Weightwatchers, lost 7 stone..... 2 back on, this has to change.....Help!!!:eek:0

I would certainly try it in another pc as different spped drives and different models can like or dilike different brand of CD. I would have you tried copying the CD? it sometimes works, if not there are also some programs that can try and recover the data.
Can you not contact the photographer? I know my mum and dad managed to get new copies of there wedding photos that where destroyed in a flood about 12 years after the event. The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.
