    "some business personal expenses"

    £10 to £15K per month?

Am I being too nosy if I ask what you do for a living? That's a heck of a lot of expenses.
  • I applied for the BC 0% card on Monday and they've said that I will get a response within 7 days. Will my application be accepted as the offer ends on Wednesday?

    Many thanks

[see above about Egg balance transfers]
Egg have finally said that: "You can transfer a balance from another credit or store card, a loan or even an overdraft. Our systems will validate the details to ensure the transfer is to a valid account."

So it would appear that BTs straight to a savings account would be 'bounced' by their system... I assume the only way of knowing an account is a current account is by the sort code - and there are probably only a few thousand of those, so such 'validation' is possible.

Has anyone ever tried to BT to a savings account through Egg with any experience to report?

    [Thanks all]

My Egg 0% finishes on the 1st of October.
So I need another card to balance transfer to.
I have a Mint card which finishes on 17th Dec(all maxed out).
I have a BC (all maxed out).
    Where should I go?
I have cards from Goldfish and Amex(secondary card holder).
    MBNA?
Have just had application in the post from Abbey offering 9 months on BT's.
Any advise would be helpful as you all helped me to get this ball rolling months ago.
  • I'd certainly go for an MBNA card (of which abbey is one).

They generally get a good press in the forum (ie give generous credit limits and have a minimum payment of £5 while you're in 0% period).

The one thing to watch, though, is the £35 (maximum) charge they may make for balance transfers.
  • Hi Guys,

Whilst im not brand new to this site i am brand new to the CC forum.

I have a fairly simple question which i'm not really sure of the answer.

If i want to start playing the 'borrow off your cc @ 0% & plonk it into a savings account' Game where do i start???

I have a barclaycard, amex blue and a First Direct CC. My wife and I have two mini cash ISA's already and i want to open a Halifax regualr saver @6%.

So which CC would i need to get (i.e who is offering 0%?) in order to use these loopholes?

Sorry if this seems thick but reading this thread has confused me somewhat!!! :-[

    Thanks

    Neil

  • Hi,

I see from the above post that you have a first direct credit card, are you aware that you can req that it be changed to one of their other cards and thus gives you a further 6 months interest free?

Also not widely know but if you have a credit bal on your fd card you can req that the money be trans to your fd current ac and then onto a savs ac, if questioned as to why you have a credit bal just adv operator that you paid in error, and ask for there not to be a handling fee thus giveing you another option for super balance transfer.

    Cheers

  • hi, could someone point me in the right direction? I am fairly new to the site, and have been trying to make sense of it all, i have a nationwide credit card at the moment with about £1500 on it, and a tesco credit card with about £150 on it. (i also have a barclay card which has been clear for a while) The interest free period has just run out on the nationwide card so i need to get another one quick, that i can transfer both balances too. From what i can see egg and that mbna virgin one look ok. Would i be right? i dont know about the mbna one, i always get things through the post from them, and that kind of puts me off. (kind of like- wheres the catch?)
Are there any hidden costs that you know of for balance transfers. i hope to be able to pay it off in the next year as its horrible having this debt over my head. Have been using the cards to get by when im really skint, and paying off a hundred or two a month when i can. (always the minimum payment though)
Think i just need a pointer in the right direction.

    thanks, mupps :)
