Eczema and what to wash clothes in?

morgan, one thing National Eczema Society have is a schools pack which you might find useful when 'sharing' with the school.Having a nightmare at the moment as DS1s hands are red raw and pus-sy; poor little thing, spent about an hour down the Doctors today, they've given him antibiotics and a hydrocortisone cream, which we've managed for so long without but I don't think we can avoid this time; he's quite upset as his mates at school have been asking him all about them, so I think we need to prepare a little talk for show and tell. Poor little chap.
apart from that, all I can offer is sympathy, and do look at what the NES site has to say about infected eczema.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thank you Savvy_Sue; because we've been 'managing' for so long I had kind of forgotten all about the NES, I have downloaded the pack for his teacher and will talk to DS1 about it; apologies to OP for hijacking their post!!That's Numberwang!0

Hi; does this mean I then bathe the child in the bath with the muslin or the child holds the muslin under the running tap, I didn't quite understand - thanksSounds a bit mental but have been a nanny for some years and had a couple of children with eczema and this has really helped. Grab a good handful of plain porridge oats, wrap them in a muslin cloth and hold under running bath water. Softens the water up and in turn softens skin. Cheap as chips too!!

Someone either holds the muslin under the tap while the bath runs, or you might be able to tie it to the tap so the water runs through it, and you then take it out, or you can swish the muslin around in the bath water once it's run and/or leave it in there. But do tie it well or you'll be bathing in runny porridge! :rotfl:
morgan, know what you mean about 'managing', but every so often it has all got too much, and I've learned something every time I've contacted NES! Even pictures of the peculiar foot eczema I didn't know existed until DH developed it!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks Savvy_Sue; they're in the bath smelling like the Ready Brek kid as we speak!!!That's Numberwang!0
