Reclaiming Xp on a Laptop

I have tried PcBart but this only creates a working copy. I am having problems with my wireless drivers not being recognised or the hardware. I want to one do a total backup and two reload my XP in install the drivers. What is the easyest way of doing the task.???

Many thanks

We would need a list of what equipment you need drivers for but the simplest thing to try is right click (On the hardware page) and 'update via internet'
Beyond that you would have to find them online yourself (Which is why we need a list of the components that need drivers)
Another 1 to try is windows update ~ go onto their ACTUAL site and see what updates they have for your components on there (If any)

  • You will need your
    motherboard drivers
BIOS update (some have a dedicated piece of software that auto updates your BIOS)
    Graphicscard
    Soundcard
    Network Card (wireless or LAN)

    Just for starters

Did your system come with recovery CD/DVDs, they have drivers on them (but usually out of date ones dependant on the age of your system)

  • This I could do BUT the problem drivers are the wireless ones and the Network ones so there is no going to the web to do any down loads until i get them working. THIS is why I need to reinstall XP-2 and the drivers which went on the installation

I thought there was some software that will reload from the standard xp one and not including my software

    Many thank aliEnRIK
  • It is a LAPTOP so all is built in
  • but your on the net now, so cant you download the drivers onto a CD or a USB datapen then just transfer them over to the laptop?

Go to the manufacturers website, find the support/download driver pages, matching your laptop, and download the current drivers for sound, video, CD/DVD drive, network, wifi etc from their pages. and then put them on a USB stick or burn to CD.
  • I am on my PC not my wireless LAPTOP downstairs

Easiest thing ive found in these situations is to use another computer to find all required network drivers ~ update on your laptop then take it from there (As the above posters have said). As once on the net its invariably a LOT easier.
Of course if you CAN find them all grouped together on 1 site then do that.
