Alfa Spider 3.0 - Yes, yes I know I am mad!

If you are going to buy an Alfa treat it as you would the love of your life and pamper it and with luck you should have a great car.
Treat her rough and she will take you to the cleaners.
A bit like a marriage really I suppose.0 -
Do you have a garage? If it was me and this was my 'ultimate' car I would go for it. There will always be a market if you decide to sell.0

friend of mine at work has a 2.0 gtv and the 3.0 spider. he loves them. he's had a few problems, it might also be worth checking you have a reliable mechanic who knows his/her alfas so if the worst does happen you don't get fleeced.
he had some problems with the thermostat I think.
have you looked at alfa forums or parkers for any possible problems?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
LMAO - you've obviously not looked into everything that goes wrong with a second hand Alfa and the costs associated :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

You have no soul!!!
Some folk just don't get it about an Alfa.0 -
Beware Alfa parts prices, some can be utter lunacy (£90 windscreen wiper?). Know what bits you need and hunt about. A lot of stuff came from the Fliat/Lancia/Alfa Romeo parts bin, and can be got through the aftermarket cheaper, even when not listed for your car. A copy of the Alfa CD parts catalogue can be useful here.
Find a decent Alfa independant garage. In fact, even find a carp one, they'll still be loads better than the main dealer!
Don't buy the first one you look at. Even if it's perfect, and exactly what you want - stick a small deposit on it, and spend the next couple of days looking around at others. You need to get a feeling for the car and what you can expect, before you really know if the one you've found is any good.
I have owned Alfas and Lancias. My last was a 155, bought 6 months old. In the main it was very reliable, right up to when the engine blew up at 120k miles (see comment above regarding alfa main dealers!). A local independant rebuilt it, and it was superb once again. Sold it to a mate, regretted it ever since
Buy an Alfa - you'll love it :j
Me, I'm still trying to fight off the urge to buy a Lancia Delta Integrale! Been resisting for years, but not cured yet :rolleyes:0 -
Great cars, just check the electrics all work & that the cambelt has been changed if needed.0
