Morrison's Special Offers
Comments

In the beer example, it was a pile of different beers all on special offer on a display set up on the other side of the shop ( nowhere near the beer and wine section ) Every beer on display was under a special offer sign .... but the beer quantities and the sign were slightly different... so no BOGOF, Some were correct, some not.
No excuse in this case... obviously misleading and even after they apologised they failed to rectify it for the next customers... It leads me to believe they it was a deliberate action either from Morissons or their local management.
it could have been an employee who had put the wrong beers in the area you mentioned or the quatities mentioned in the advertising were incorrect0 -
I have complained several times at two Morrison's stores in West and North Yorkshire about apparent sloppy placing of products on offer and also just sloppy shelf filling!! However, when I complained today to the CHilled Food Manager that their 2-for £4.00 signs attached to 3 shelves applied to only 5 of about 20 chilled ready meal lines laid out randomly near the signs - he was embarrassed to confirm that it is not sloppy store staff but an order from their marketing department to lay the products out to ths exact 'map'. I was furious as I have ended up paying almonst £ 6.00 for two ready meals as only one had the little 'badge' on it!!! (Had been told this before by store staff but did not believe this and asked for the manager to call me - he didn't!!)
This happens too often across too many types of product - loo roll special offer stacked at the end of a row sold out - replaced by a a whole pallet of a different brand with the Special Offer sign put on the top of the pile, jars of Indian Chutney above a special offer sign replaced with larger jars - not on special offer. Also today' Buy 2 Dips get 20p off; sign put direclty below 'THe Finest' dips (not Morrisons's own) and then, in very small print states 'does not apply to 'The Finest'!! On my word!!
NOt a week goes by without several examples of this occurring and the section managers always appear apologetic and embarrassed.!!0 -
It seems likes a lot of you are buying items deliberately because there are discounts for two or more of them. The solution is to only buy what you need or what you were planning to buy. Getting seduced by BOGOFs is a sure path to disappointment.
I am no supermarket apologist but I genuinely can't get upset by these marketing tactics. I expect marketing in all its guises to be underhand, deceitful and loaded. That is what marketing is for; it's to sway you, by any legal means, to buy more of something than you had intended or to buy something other than you had intended.
As I have pointed out before, Shreddies are not knitted by nanas. Understand that simple point and you understand the basic nature of marketing.0 -

Yes this is true, its the same where i worked at sainsburys, you just have to look at the shelf edge labels,

if your not sure about any of the special offers then ask the checkout operator to check if its on offer if it is then buy it if it isnt then only say you want just the 1
This happens too often across too many types of product - loo roll special offer stacked at the end of a row sold out
so the sel for the item thatsout isnt removed and another item is placed where the out of stock should be
- replaced by a a whole pallet of a different brand with the Special Offer sign put on the top of the pile, jars of Indian Chutney above a special offer sign replaced with larger jars - not on special offer
check the weight of the jars against the weight thats mentioned on the sel, do they match then if not then dont buy it or if they do match then get 1 or 2
Also today' Buy 2 Dips get 20p off; sign put direclty below 'THe Finest' dips (not Morrisons's own) and then, in very small print states 'does not apply to 'The Finest'!! On my word!!

you need to look at the sel's0 -
Sometimes the labels are misleading, but often it's customers reading it wrong - and they'll never admit it! My favourite is the woman who complained a POS saying "Buy one get one free Pepsi" was misleading, as she wanted Fanta on a different shelf!
SELs do sometimes get removed or put in the wrong place, but it's not always the shops fault. I put out an SEL on wednesday afternoon, and by today it was missing. Even better than that is a POS that was removed by a customer within an hour.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

The supermarkets have been doing this for years though. It is only now that people are becoming more aware of how much they are spending, that it is becoming noticed more.
I always double check the exact product each offer relates too as even the exact same item but a different size is put in the same area as the offer item.
I shop online now so can check the value of single items against the multipacks. Asda a few weeks ago had an offer with Heinz beans and buying 4 single cans was cheaper that getting the multipack. It's back to normal now though.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.
