BT anytime service - extra charges!

I recently changed my mother's BT phone line service to the BT Anytime service which was on offer at £15.45 per month. It seemed a good offer, because she is a pensioner it would save her a small amount each month.

She received her first phone bill today and was charged a 3 month advance line rental charge. This was not mentioned anywhere on the BT website or the BT customer service who set up the new service.

I contacted BT who have now changed the quarterly billing to monthly billing instead but the monthly billing works out at around £18 per month.

I am not happy, I tried to change back to her original BT phone service but I was informed that she was now in a new fixed contract and nothing could be done to change things.

So be warned check out if there are any advance payment taken when signing up with any new BT phone contracts or package changes.

    What great advice

Reading an agreement prior to signing up and understanding the terms, I would never have thought of that!

  • What is going on with these boards, some people seem to use them as sport to attack people that they feel are more intelligent than themsleves.

If you are more intelligent, why not use your skill for good rather than self-satisfaction.

Thanks to the OP for pointing out this potential pitfall with the BT contract

Don't let him get to you Jazzy. There are a lot of folk like him on this section of the board. Check out his posts - 99% of them are very critical of the OP with very little justification.

    That's why I think he's related ;) to YukTim29.

Please post a link to the material you signed up on then, I'll bet its mentioned

The fact is I do not believe for a second BT have material without this information available somewhere

Too many people see £14.99 a month and sign up not thinking about the long term consequences or contract
