Because Linux sux for the majority of people who just want to use their PC and add hardware without all the fannying around Linux requires.

And if you say it doesn't, be prepared for a raft of links showing it does.

Plus the OP stated they wish to use iTunes, which has no Linux version and I'm sure they don't want the inconvenience of trying to get it to work in WINE.

It certainly has a learning curve, but it's a lot easier to use than it used to be, and it's getting easier all the time.
  • So your Dell is stuffed, you can't find the reset button and you still want another one?
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • I have Vista and I don't like it. It is temperamental.
  • Before you go spending money have you considered trouble shooting your current pc, maybe give it a overhaul, open it up give it a good clean out with a can of compressed air, reinstall OS on it ect then evaluate the decision again. No point thowing out a pc that does what you need it to do.

Sorry to be so bossy, but I'd never come across a Dell that didn't have those diagnostic LEDs on the back. But .... you're right :D

For info, keep this link to the Dell support manual, which has some troubleshooting tips in it. Or save this PDF version for future reference
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
