Thats the point
wheres the help for those in the middle ?
not rich and not `poor`
There isnt any , and thats where the government of the day is supposed to step in with tighter regulation and the like0 -
The thing is they aren't looking after the poor.
The government cut the amount they pay warmfront. Even increasing it doesn't help that many people particularly as Winter is approaching. This government will have blood on there hands this Winter because people will DIE.
Fair enough we need to insulate but how is this increase going to help those who have done this already and still facing over 50% more for fuel this Winter than last?
You can only cut down so much before its a choice between food and heating? It doesn't address the many thousands who are disabled who suffer just as much as those who are over 65+0 -

Perhaps i worded it incorrectly , what i mean is , THEY think , or at least try to convince that they ARE looking after the vulnerable and less well off0 -
The government should be looking after the poorer in society, those on benefits and state pensions.
For many people in this category, fuel bills represent 10%+ of their income so I can't see why people earning £700 a week should be looking for handouts?
If people are struggling on £700 a week its down to lifestyle choices, not a £400 energy bill....0 -
Well I dont believe anything this wasted bunch of cretins they call MPs say any more they are all as bad as each other looking after themselves first and for most. They are a disgrace to society, not one of them is worth the money the tax payer pays them for the lavish lifstyle
They pretend they care, but under Labour the rich have prospered the most. Fair enough those on low incomes, the tax credits have helped some way, but child poverty is just as bad today as it was when they came to power, in fact if anything it will now get worse, food, fuel and mortgages have all gone up well above inflation
I can understand why they want wages settlements low, but most of this inflation is beyond our control.
Food, roof over our heads, and fuel are essential for life, and these basics have all gone through the roof0 -
This is just a cop out, to avoid upsetting the energy companies with a windfall tax. The reality is most older and or disabled people even if they qualify, who will help them get it organised?
My mum and dad didn't qualify for free insulation as he actually worked and paid into a pension. He doesn't get a huge pension and mum mostly stayed at home with us. But they are just above the pension tax credit level.
I found out that our local council do a scheme where if one or more pensioner in the household is 70 or over they get the insulation free irrelavent of their income, but I had to push them a bit to get it sorted otherwise they wouldn't have got it done.
