I recently applied to get my bank charges after discovering i could still apply for them stating hardship (I've been off work with a broken collarbone then had to get surgery on it due to a malunion).
I recieved a Common Financial statement to fill out and returned it. 2-3 weeks on and i have now received an offer for £515.00. The amount i applied for (including interest i caculated using Martins interest caclulator) was £1800.00.
Can anyone tell me what i should do now?
What should i write back saying to try and get the full amount or as close to it as possible?
Do i risk them withdrawing their offer completely by pushing it?
even if i could get £1000 back then it would help greatly in paying off the debt recovery company that the bank passed the debt to after i got in a mess and couldn't pay back my charges.
Thanks for any answers in advance.
All the best

Yep I agree send them a letter stating that you will accept amount only on the condition that they settle the full amount within 14 days. If they are unwilling to settle then you will be returning the amount and taking legal action. I'm in a similar situation at the mo, dont let them put you off!0

quick update -
I wrote back to the bank just over a fortnight now saying that i would consider the matter closed if i received the full amount i asked for within 14 days and that if i haven't received a satisfactory offer by then that i would commence legal proceedings.
I still haven't heard a thing and that was 16 days ago.
Any advice on what to do now?
thanks

I wrote on the forums here asking for advice on what to do and was advised to write back saying that i didn't accept that as a satisfactory offer and unless i received the full amount within 14 days i would commence legal action.
I received a letter today stating that they would not be offering any other monies at this stage but my case will be stored until after the OFT case.
I am panicking now as i am unsure what steps to take.
Should i go back and say that i accept the original offer or should i go ahead and contact a soliciter?
I would really appreciate any help or advice as i am freaking out now that i may have lost that £515.00 for good.
Thanks for reading

I would give them a ring and say to them to look into your case again as you are in hardship. If they refuse i would contact the ombudsman and make a complaint stating your bank is not looking into your case properly.
The original offer is so much lower, i would stick it out for the full amount. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
