Switching from BT to Talk Talk - good move?

I have been with BT for my Broadband for the last 10 years or so - basically I was one of the first people in the UK to trial ADSL with Broadband.
Anyway yesterday I got a call from Talk Talk with what seemed like a really good saving.
I currently pay £42.10 a month to BT for my Broadband (Option 3) and this also includes my line rental (£10) a month and I am on something called the Unlimited Weekend Plan.
The Talk Talk offer was something like £16.99 a month including Broadband and Line rental.
So you can imagine how tempted I am.by this offer.
Hence I am seeking advice on whether this is a good move? My main concerns are the amount of down time involved in switching and equally concerning is how reliable Talk Talk broadband is?
BT may be more expensive but it has been extremely reliable over the years and working from home as a website designer, I absolutely need my broadband to be reliable.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

I switched from BT to Talk Talk about 2 years ago and apart from the initial set up stuff and waiting about a month longer than stated to get online (it was over Xmas) I have had no problems whatsoever.. I just went into the local Carphone Warehouse and they did it all for me and sorted it all out. Much easier than speaking to 'call centres'.0

Thanks linni. Yeah the down time is a major concern. The lady at Talk Talk assured me the down time would be around 20 minutes to an hour maximum. That sounds pretty good to me - if only I could trust her....0

Mine only took a couple of hours and that was because they had to put a new line in the BT box (or something?) but they phoned me first and told me they would be doing it so I cant even complain about that! But I have saved a lot of money changing to Talk Talk to it was worth it. Good Luck!!0

I switched last April and it`s the best move I ever made.
I pay £16-39 a month for BB (downloads at 5.7 megs on average)
All evening and weekend calls are free and also 36 international numbers are free at anytime.
All calls to other TT customers are free anytime.
If you want free calls during weekday hours I think that package is about £19-99 a month.
Down time on the day of change over, less than 30 minutes.
It`s a no brainer
