ooh, I've just checked my bank account online and £6.56 was paid in yesterday by Working Tax Credits! I guess I'm going to be getting some then! My initial assessment on the phone was around £24 a week so hopefully i'll get that. Maybe I'll get the letter tomorrow telling me.

keren a quick question if i may? I have also just come off the PAYG insurance and i seem to remember you posting a while ago when they sent out letters about not renewing them. Have you managed to get a decent quote anywhere else? I have had a few but nowhere near as cheap as them. Just been on a comparison website and Norwich were quoting me £20 higher than the renewal, but through quidco was cashback taking it lower..just wondered if that all made sense! Sent your book off BTW.xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

hiya Bob, yes unfortuately Norwich Union have withdrawn Pay as you Drive
I couldn't find anyone nearly as cheap (I was paying £12 a month for premium plus mileage) and ended up going with Yes Car Insurance. I got £50 cashback with Quidco and it cost me around £220 I think for fully comp with 4 years no claims. The £50 took it down to about £170 for the year.
Not brilliant but the best I could get and having an automatic seems to add a bit on the premium.
ooh, thankyou for posting - much appreciated - seen your FB cake pics - they are amazing."Stay Wonky":D

Thanks i will look at yes car credit. Nu have quoted me £193 but i tempted for the cash back. M&s had a good one at £181, then i realised there was no legal protection..i have full no claims protected as well.
I have some more cakes on my thread somewhere as well..i don't have a lot posted on the web..i think that one on fb was my daughters wedding cake. It was the first one i made with help about three years ago. The lady who taught me is a family friend and she has bad arthritis, so now i do her families cakes as well. I made all the flowers on that one by hand..took me ages as it was the first time, but easy when you get the hang of it..in fact it grieves me to pay for them now..had to with the last cake as short notice, but i am making some and just storing for future.
Hope the book is ok lots of good tips in for eqpt needed etc.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi all,
Sorry for barging in here but I have had the week from hell.
Yesterday a 52 seater coach decided to plough it's way across the grass verge infront of my neighbours house, nearly half killing DD in the process. Had a load of verbal of the coach companies manager (and I use the term lightly), just cos I phoned and dared to complain about his stupid driver. I am still smarting over that issue so will not harp on about it too much.
Today - I 'clipped' one of them damn wheelie bins, sending my passenger door mirror hurling through the air, smashing the glass and damaging my passenger window in the process. Wait for it - £602 worth of damage and I have a bloomin excess of £350  .
God I am soooo mad .................. so sorry for the rant but had to get it off my chest ....

£602???!!! Christ!!! What kind of car do you have? Could you speak to a car breakers yard to get a new mirror at the very least? You could probably also get a door from a breaker and have it sprayed for less than £600.

Hi BB,
Yep, I nearly died, well I certainly gasped when they said how much, I think my exact word were " HOW MUCH? "
DH is due home in a bit, so hopefully he can 'cobble' something together for me, fingers crossed eh.
AND I am still waiting for the Police to phone so that I can give a statement, and its been over 24 hours now - is that normal ?.
