ParcelForce Insurance "Get-out"

That's all I am asking. A bit of care and consideration. If a parcel is marked fragile surely it is common sense not to stack 100 kgs over it.
It is an issue of common sense rather than time and infrastructure.
sigh. do you think people are standing moving one packet from one point to another?
3 seconds per packet. time is the issue
As I said,it used to be items were segregated. the time isnt there nowadays
also space is a massie issue
with a rise year on year of packet traffic, you get to point of physically fitting/moving stuff around.
you are simply not listening and have a simplistic view. nothing you see will change that
I find it ironic how many folks moan that RM need to modernise etc, then moan when things change0 -
People moan when RM does not take due care of the packages that customers entrust to them. It's not a question of being modern or ancient , it's about good customer service.
right but given its a very smal proportion of the millions handled, then its working.no?
there will always be damage (many down to poor packaging)
you say customer service, however its a balance
as staff levels drop then time simply isnt there like it used to be
agree or not,its a fact0 -
When there is damage , RM should try and set things right rather than expect customers to put up with it because they haven't got enough staff and staff haven't got enough time.
they do
thats why all of RMs services carry insurance
which takes you right back to the opening post
requiring proof the item was sufficiently packaged0 -
I send 10 parcels per week through Parcel Force and have done for several years. I have not had any get damaged or go missing in all of this time, therefore either you are unlucky or your items are not packaged correctly if one does get damaged.
Obviously I'm frantically touching wood here now....don't want to curse myself!0 -
Hello everyone,
I've just been reading the Parcelforce comments, which are mildly depressing.
I need to send a watch to a recipient in Greece (The place not the musical) and have been trying to find out how I can get it properly insured and delivered......not as easy as I thought.
The value is £2000 and I can't even find out from the Parcelforce site if they will insure it or what the postage would cost as their website is being "maintained" or something.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which service would be the best for international postage of small, but valuable items?
Any suggestions are much appreciated as it's a pain going through all the details for the package on a site just to find out they will only insure up to £500 at the end.
Incidentally, does the Parcelforce small print inform senders to wrap items sufficiently to withstand a load of 100kg as suggested by custardy?
I'll need to wrap my watch in bubble wrap, then cardboard and coconut matting and then pack tightly into a steel dustbin, to allow for potential impact load, which I'm sure must be mentioned somewhere in the small print, although joking aside I do agree that a guitar should be packed in a hard case.
Have you considered a cheap flight to greece? Might be more efficient and quicker than that. Have you looked at sites like parcelmonkey and MSE had a piece on cheap couriers a while ago0 -
As an update - the packing for the guitar (I know it was a long time ago!) was completely in line with parcel force's own recommended guidelines at the time.
I got an extremely apologetic letter and a full refund because they KNEW the service received was not acceptable and that the blatant LIES told concerning having inspected the parcel etc even less so.
Sorry, but I am mystified by commentsd saying it was basically my own fault for sending a fragile item throught the post. Having followed the company's guidelines and paid a considerable amount of money for their service I see no reason to criticise the customer.0 -

Who said that?
Well done on getting it resolved.0 -
When I was a postman (a long time ago), normal practice in the sorting office was to throw parcels across the room. Time was everything. Items marked fragile *may* have been given a little more consideration. But then, sometimes really idiotic packing meant the parcel was always going to be delivered in poor condition. Think a wine bottle wrapped in brown paper!!!0
