Wishing you well for Monday - I was a wreck when my girl went in, but the quality of her life was so improved, she now keeps my nearly 2 year old Labradoodle in his place
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Our papillon also has a bad heart murmur and we were really scared when the vet said she needed some teeth out under GA. But she got through it fine. When we got her the vet said she could last 2 months or 2 years and she is 9 now. So I hope it all goes well on Monday and that she will feel much better afterwards. Do keep us posted on her progress.Marsh Samphire0

My old dog had a funny little lump on her head which she had removed under GA aged about 15 - she also had a heart murmer, but did fine with the op and was healthy and happy right until she died peacefully, in her sleep, almost a year later.
It is difficult but I think this itchiness will be driving her mad and of your vet thinks he can operate I think it is worth going for it. Best of luck to you and your dog - is that her in your avatar? She looks lovely.0 -

Hello. Just a quick update. Boyf took her in at 9;30 this morning she was clinging to him and licking his face not wanting to leave. They took her in and said they'd give her a sedative to chill her out till the op. I rang at 2 this afternoon, i was shaking like a leaf. and they said she was coming round well, hurray! I'd went to work to try ad keep my mind occupied-it worked, i've never done so much! We went and picked her up, she has a row of stitches about 5 inches long and is woozy, I've bought her a new bed- thought she might struggle with her usual chil out beanbag. She's sparked out, she was having little tiny whinges but has settled right down. I've bought some babygrows and am going to bespoke them so she can't scratch the stiches. She's back Thurday then week on Thursday. Bless her she was as floppy as a little rag doll. Am going to keep her rested and have bought some organic free range chicken breast for when she's up to eating. Thanks for your kind words, will keep you updated on her recovery. Thanks again.RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

A little discomfort will help to keep her from being too active and putting a strain on the stiches, but restlesness and winging to excess I think are an indication that she is very uncomfortable. Don't be afraid to contact your vet for advice re pain relief. Some vets give them a pain releiving injection which lasts several hours, others send them home with tablets.
Glad to hear she's been sorted, hope her recovery is swift and not too eventful. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Aww that is really good news, sending gentle squishes to her and healing thoughts. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.0

Thankyou everyone, your kind words mean alot. She had a bit of a rough night, she seemed like she didn't know what to do with herself. The boyf stayed up with her from around 3;45. This morning, and tonight she was keen to eat, and thankfully, this helped me give her her vivitonin. She isn't as wobbly now, she was like Bambi on ice yesterday!! I even had to get hold of her to simmer her down. She'd been out and when she came back in I gave her a rub down 'cos she was a little bit rained on. You know how when they've been in the bath and they go all mental when they're getting dried, she thought it was daft half hour!!Just have to be careful with her stitches though. I've bespoked a babygrow for when I'm out at work tomorrow, that will cover her up so hopefully she can't get at them. It's been really encouraging to have your support. At work they think I'm stupid, my boss even pointed out, they don't last forever you know. Glad there are other people out there that love their dogs as much as me.xRIP Floyd - 19/04/09.
