Tesco Online BOGOF Warning

I received my Tesco online shop today, ordered yesterday. Tempted by the BOGOF page I had selected two tins of Cadburys Heroes for Xmas. (price per tin, £7.99) I only ordered because I saw them on the offers page. When they arrived, no BOGOF, charged at £15.98.

Of course the email confirming my order shows only the usual shelf prices (always does). When I phoned I was told the offer had finished yesterday.

It has usually been Tesco's policy to flag up anything which will be delivered after the expiry date of the offer so you can change your mind before confirming. The guy told me that they have had problems with the site not flagging up and they have had a lot of people phoning up because of it. I have to say that he has offered to refund the money 'just this once'.

I had already found out some time ago that if you order something on BOGOF and the offer doesn't start until the day after your delivery, the website doesn't warn you and you pay the full price.

I shall be extra careful to check in future and for large BOGOFS I will save a screen print so I have some evidence. Just thought I'd warn everyone who uses Tesco online shopping

a couple of weeks ago i did an online shop with tesco and ordered 2 lots of chicken breast @ 2 for £5. when the delivery came they had substituted healthy living chicken @ 2 for £8! I made a comment to the driver and all he did was say i could send it back...no good when i need it for dinner.

Exactly the same happened to me - only the two (much smaller) packs of chicken they sent were £4 each, total £8, but were on a 3 for £10 offer. I'd expected to pay £10, so why didn't they send me £10 worth of chicken?!

Besides which, I'd asked for NO substitutions, as I always do, and they always ignore it.

I have to say OP, that I've never seen a BOGOF offer on the website that hasn't yet started. Can they be found on the site, somehow?
  • Shame you all have so many probs with them, I find them great.

Also, you say you needed the chicken for tea, couldn't you have just done something else!?

I guess the lesson is, if you can't accept human error or things being out of stock etc. then go yourself and you won't be suprised!

They go on the site about 24 hours before they start, so if you were ordering in the middle of the night or early morning for the same day delivery, then you would see the offers that started the next day.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx
  • I had a similar thing yesterday, I did my shopping online with Tesco and bought some Yeo Valley kids yoghurt in the tubes which were on BOGOF but only received one. I realise now I mistakenly only put one in my basket but surely common sense prevails and if it's free the picker would get the extra one? I know it was my error not choosing two but if I was shopping for somebody else and something was free with the thing they wanted I would pick it up for them - unless of course they are told not to.

And don't even start on the substitutions, I have had the most ridiculous things as subs even though I always opt to have no substitutions. I sometimes wonder what sort of training the people doing the picking get.

That being said, I hate shopping in the supermarket so I am still grateful not to have to go and I'll still use the online service.
  • must say im pretty happy with tesco they have made mistakes but ive not had half as much trouble with them as i did asda will never set foot in there again .
    Free of dept Thanks Martin
:T  beers are on me
  • I ordered marshmallows and got jelly babies, not good in a choc fountain! Also got 40 pints of fresh milk instead of cravendale.

Ive got 3 kids and worked out the other day that we get through 32 pints a week!! although I tend not to buy it all i one, go-get 4x4pints twice a week, (but then I dont get it delivered)

We were working out lots of daft things like this with the kids the other day, like 'how many finger and toe nails I cut each sunday after bath time (80 nails...if I have time to cut my own!)

    We are a sad family!!!:rotfl:
