Trainee Jobs

Hes trying to point me in the right direction rather than just putting me down which is how i felt from the other poster.
He's not pointing you in the right direction if he's suggesting something for which you're not eligible!
If you must post a list of unrelated jobs (and expect there to be a website for trainee stockbroker jobs !!!!!!) then the suggestion that you need to be more analytical and knowledgeable about your choices was perfectly reasonable advice. If you have a look at the Learndirect website you can find detailed information on most careers and can also get proper careers advice online.0 -

I was just going to point that out!!! You got there well before me - but I was eating my dinner. :rotfl:
To the OP; seriously, if you think that dmg was putting you down, then you are far too sensitive so I'll bow out and leave you to it. If you read back, you will see that you have got a bit confused - and nobody 'took your word literally' as dmg was responding to someone else's response...not yours.0 -
Its called realism your being given
The fact is trainee jobs are very hard work and a lot of time and investment from the company thus they expect commitment, skills and people to actually be interested
Trainee Recruitment- Plenty of jobs around and sales orientated however, agencies, normally expect a proven track record and tbh do you have that? if you drift around probably not
Trainee Estate Agent/Management - A declining area at the moment due to the credit crunch, lots of companies are laying off staff so doubt there will be many trainee opportunities around and even if there is I would imagine more experienced people made redundant would go for them.
Trainee Stockbroker - Get a grip, I havent heard of many companies who want anyone other than the best and due to the monies involved they get the best
Trainee Accountant - Again I think you lack the qualifications
Tbh overall I think your a bit deluded, you have a pretty average educational history and the indication is your employment history is no better, what exactly do you have that is going to make a company want to invest a lot of money in you? From your posts on here not a lot
You best decide what you actually want to do and look to improve your experience and skills in that area instead of expecting someone to choose you in whatever industry you type into google0 -

Obviously, but it doesnt mean im only interested and committed to one type of job till im in it, just like a plumber could have gone into plastering, joinery, electrician and so forthLinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Trainee Recruitment- Plenty of jobs around and sales orientated however, agencies, normally expect a proven track record and tbh do you have that? if you drift around probably not
Might drift around but Ive got an excellent record so dont worry about that. Only thing that scares me with Recruitment is that its a very popular market so in 10 years down the line it may be !!!!.LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Trainee Estate Agent/Management - A declining area at the moment due to the credit crunch, lots of companies are laying off staff so doubt there will be many trainee opportunities around and even if there is I would imagine more experienced people made redundant would go for them.
Seen a trainee lettings negotiator today that im going to look into, but i do agree with what your saying.LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Trainee Stockbroker - Get a grip, I havent heard of many companies who want anyone other than the best and due to the monies involved they get the best
Maybe just a dream this one
LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Trainee Accountant - Again I think you lack the qualifications
Wrong, as previously stated i have sought advice on this one, granted degree or even a-level is the ideal standard, or self done the accountancy certifications etc, however there is still companies out there. Its just finding them.LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Tbh overall I think your a bit deluded, you have a pretty average educational history and the indication is your employment history is no better, what exactly do you have that is going to make a company want to invest a lot of money in you? Okay then mate, maybe i should just resign to life as a call centre worker and not ever try and better myself...... :TLinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »You best decide what you actually want to do and look to improve your experience and skills in that area instead of expecting someone to choose you in whatever industry you type into google
A little advice never goes a miss now and again does it, some people are helpful, some are realistic but helpful or theres others whom are realisitc but entirely unhelpful.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -
I know of quite a few people who are thick as planks and are accountants, managers, etc.
So don’t take the criticism to heart, use it to motivate yourself...
Of course it will be difficult but you need to be strong and remain confident in your own abilities.
As you can see by the majority of these posts, it is a f***ed up world full of nasty people!

I work as a trainee accountant with a Big 4 accountancy firm. In my humble opinion, the further up the ladder you get, the more sales you have to do. We may not call it 'sales' in our profession, but pitching for new clients and spending lots of time working on proposals constitutes 'sales' in everyday language.
Anyway, back to the OP. With your grades, you will struggle to find an employer who's prepared to offer you a training contract, although the good news, is that your background doesn't preclude you from doing the AAT. Before you go down this route however, I think you need to be honest with yourself if you'd cope with the academic side of things. There's a reason why most accountants have a strong academic background - it's because they wouldn't have got through their professional qualifications without one.
If you didn't get the best of grades because there were extenuating circumstances at the time (bereavement, illness, etc) then fair enough. However, if you didn't get the best of grades because you're not very good at exams, reconsider accountancy. I'm not being mean, just honest.0
