Am I being unreasonable or is she?

I think she's being unreasonable too its your day why should you pay for strangers to come to see you get married!! Tell her she has till friday to invite the ex or your going to invite your cousin instead.

Yes she is definitely being unreasonable!
I would agree with Karen if you didn't have someone else you want to invite, but it's not fair that someone you don't know and don't want there takes up space that could be used by someone who does!
I'm sure your cousin will get a lot more out of it than your sisters plus one anyway!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Thanks for reassuring me guys... I'll stand by what I said on the phone... If the ex hasn't commited by Friday then the catsitting cousin it is!
Damnit, might have to rearrange my seating plan... It's all so nice too...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

If she wants to pay for +1's meal...... that way you are not left paying for stranger to eat, although I think it probably wouldnt go down too well

She's been unreasonable in so many ways!
However, for the sake of not causing any drama, I'd be somewhat inclined to let her invite whoever she wanted to the wedding - you'd planned on paying for that guest anyway.
I guess it's a case of picking your battles.0 -
...... let her invite whoever she wanted to the wedding - you'd planned on paying for that guest anyway....
But it's Krystaltips' & h2b's guest, and it shouldn't have to be her sister's current squeeze if they don't know him......I would go with the rest of the posts - if her ex/ father of bridesmaid can't make it, cat-sitting cousin gets a day out

Actually, the proper etiquette is that if the named partner on the invitation cannot attend then the other invited guest cannot invite someone of their own choosing because it is deemed to be incredibly rude.0

I agree it's not proper etiquette...but then we know that the sister has absolutely no idea about etiquette, having invited herself to be bridesmaid!

The only reason I suggest allowing her to bring a different guest is if the bride decides it's not worth the stress of fighting with her sister.0 -
I probably wouldn't mind so much if he was her current squeeze but he's just a friend... Who's married to someone else! I think her attitude annoyed me more than anything too... Just assuming she could bring him with no consultation...
She also offered to pay for his meal, but this was after a 10minute run down on why she probably won't be able to buy us a gift....A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Quickie update... The ex is coming... Which is slightly annoying now as OH uncle just confirmed he will be able to fly over especially... Going to have to squeeze an extra one in...
Might put MIL in the toilet with a picnic and save ourselves the hassle
