I hope I get some samples! None of the people I've so far given C4 to had noticed, so ordered some anyway, thought it would be a nice surprise for them!
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A

Same here. We can only hope we get some, which is bad really. Come on Avon sort yourselves out.

They shouldn't really do these offers unless they have the stocks - they must have a good idea how many customers they have and therefore the minimum amount of samples they would need!

  • Especially with all the advertising they doing, they should have extra stock.

Just wanted to ask you experianced reps a question - how do you "demonstrate" the products to people on doorsteps?

So far ive only shown my mum new products etc but id like to know how to approach "territory" customers.:o

Frankly, I don't :D The only time I see my customers is when I deliver their order, and then I'm not invited in. It makes me laugh when these 'pie in the sky' Avon people talk about telling your customers this that and the other - the chance would be a fine thing.

Having said that, it seems to work for me (C4 was around £350). I don't think people want to be bothered giving up precious time to socialise with the Avon Lady :p

  • For those asking about Tax - I've just noticed that on the website, under News>hot topics there is a bit about tax with a link to the HMRC website.

You can tell I'm stuck at home and bored today - OH is out, I can't drive at present, and delivery is a day late; can't even resort to much housework because of my wrist :p

  • Hi everyone

Just a bit of advice (for all my sins I am an accountant and I have studied Tax and unfortunatly it is not as simple as ABC).

Your really should register, if you sl/asm told you not to they are very, very wrong. I f you are caught you can face some pretty hefty fines. AVON do pass on our details to HMRC so even if you get away with it once you may not again.

You only get one allowance of about £6,000 per year. This is not per job it is per person. You DO NOT have an allowance for your full time job then one for your part time.

If you work full time you may find that you NI is covered so you only need to pay tax on you AVON (not the other way around). So you may apply to not pay NI on your avon earning but this does depend on how much you earn, (Sorry not sure on current limits)

If AVON is your only source of income and you do not earn over £6k you still need to register as you need to pay NI contributions. you will pay around 8% in NI but no tax. If you do not pay so much NI in a year you will not be able to claim things from the government in the future like job seekers and tax credits.

Sorry if this confuses anyone, but if you have got more questions I can try to help. The HMRC website can be a bit of a maze. If you call the new self employed tax line though they are really quite helpfull.
