I use mozarella for the usual pizza, tom & moz salad & as a topping for any type of pasta bake.
We also like mozarella meatballs - make your normal meatballs with spaghetti in tomato sauce, but before cooking push a small cube of mozarella into the middle of the meatball & re-form the meat completely to seal in the cheese. Try not to move them around too much in the pan or they break up & the cheese leaks out.
You can also stuff chicken breasts with mozarella, wrap in bacon/parma ham & bake in oven.

Can anyone give me an idea of what you do with this? I bought it from the supermarket today because it was cheap and I've already cooked a spaghetti bolognese. Do I have to melt it or what?

Mozerella is my favourite cheesy topping for my Homemade pizzas. I just sprinkle it on the top and as the 'dish' cooks the cheese melts. I did try to use cheaper cheese, but found that it burns far too quickly....unlike my Mozerella.

  • if you grate it,and then put it on top of the hot food when dishing up, it should melt very quickly.

Mozerella is the cheese normally found on pizza, its a lovely mild cheese that goes lovely with tomato dishes. I add to pizza and pasta and let it melt, you can eat it uncooked, but i prefer it when its melted!!

But you dont have to melt it if you dont want to. Are you planning on having it with the spag bol?

If not you can slice it and eat with salad, on crackers etc, it's a bit bland on it's own, which is why you tend to find it on things like pizza where it's melded with other flavours.

If you wanted to use it tonight I would suggest grating it and putting it on slices of garlic bread and then popping them under the grill to melt.

    Hope you enjoy

It also freezes really well, so if you can't think what to do with it all it's not a problem!

My favourite is to put slices of mozarella and tomato on a plate, pour over a little olive oil and sprinkle some pepper, delicious as a snack or small meal. Making myself hungry now! *goes off to see if there's mozarella in the fridge*!!
