Business Broadband

Hi - I've been surfing and telephoning and getting in a bit of a stew.

We're just about to open a shop - it's a one roomer, which is more of an office with the added bonus of a shop outlet. We have one computer - there's just me, and my husband when he's not working elsewhere. BT say yes, we can have the home package - it just means that we won't have the company name on the bill, Talk Talk say that it's a breach of terms and conditions to have the home bb when we're running a business (and they only have 24 m contracts!), Orange just say no we can't because it's a shop, but no mention of terms and conditions.

I don't know what to do. We were trying to avoid BT because they've had me in floods of tears on the phone recently with absolutely appalling customer service and when I've tried ordering a new phone line for the shop, it's over 3 weeks down the line and we, apart from giving the initial details and consenting to credit check, have heard nothing and when I tried chasing it, no-one has any record of it, even though I have an email from someone.

We want to open on Saturday and are still no closer to getting a line and bb and can't really move forward without it.

Can anyone help please? Thank you

  • If it a business then you have to go with a business contract, thats the only really option, sorry.

I finally got some help from madasafish. So far so good - able to put on business name and no added costs just because it's a business.

Do consider though if the broadband is going to be essential to your business and how long you could afford to be without it. If the broadband fails, with a domestic product it will get fixed when it gets fixed.
