"4. Customers who qualify for BT Basic may migrate without fulfilling the remainder of their minimum term."0 -
you could always call talk talk or sky or tiscali or orange or any other provider and ask for the light user scheme/basic option. They dont offer anything like that of course as no money in it which is the same reason BT have got rid of lus
And with regards to telling BT you are moving to virgin? the advisor you spoke to couldnt care less and was probably more bothered that you called and wasted their time.
Hmmmm....which of the companies you mention above (with the exception of BT, hint hint) previously held a state-run monopoly over the telecoms market?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
BT Basic is pathetic,my gran was advised to go over to it last year by a BT salesman and her bills have doubled for more or less the same useage.
On studying it in depth last night I have found out it was only brought in to please the regulator, and BT brought it in and at the same time stopped the light user scheme which in effect costs the customer more if they are doing anything over
12 calls or 12 mins of calls a quarter.
Just looking at her bill online and they have charged her over £1 for a 9 minute landline local rate call on BT basic.
That is more than some mmobile PAYG rates.
BT are just trying to get more from the most vulnerable members of society, which does not surprise me one little bit from the vile company.0 -
BT Basic is pathetic ... her bills have doubled for more or less the same usage.
I think the BT Basic advisors are supposed to advise people if it is worth while switching when they call to request the form - based upon their past usage. If her usage is roughly the same before and after the switch she probably has grounds to complain for being mis-advised.
It should be relatively easy to work out who would be better or worse off. The reduction of line rental from £11.27 to £4.40 a month can pay for quite a few of those 9 minute (or similar) calls.0 -
Four and three-quarter hours of calls per quarter (not 12 mins
) before it costs as much as a standard phone line (£42). If you want to make calls, take out an evening and weekends package. If not, £13.50 is a bargain.
Yes, it suits a different audience than the light-user scheme but Basic is at least suited to light users.
If you are being given line rental for 25 pence per month then why complain if call charges are higher? What do you expect?0 -
You are both forgetting the scrapping of the light user rebate scheme.
On the standard plan you would get the light user rebate
on basic you dont and the cost of the calls are far higher.0 -
LUS line rental cost 25p per month? I doubt it. You are also able to use a BT Basic line for broadband - far more useful than some people who are not really light users claiming an LUS rebate. If you make enough calls to make the LUS preferable to Basic then you are not really a light or occasional user.0

I know you cant use an alternative supplier to place your calls on BT Basic, but i wondered if they would pick up a call back service like 18185,s sister company

Close to spam and even if not spam it is unambiguously an invitation to defraud. Reported.0
