Do a goody bag/hamper for the Mum, include treats like relaxing bubble bath and chocs, you could also make a voucher book with things like "I'll cuddle the baby for an hour while you have a bath" or " I'll pick up you shopping for you this week".
By the time I got to DD3 being born I'd have sold my right arm for this sort of thing.

The Royal Mint do a coin presentation pack for a new baby - all of the coins issued in the year the baby's born - a nice keep sake and not too expensive.0

when my eldest was born he was given a £5 coin, limited edition for the year he was born, i can't remember the occasion but it was something royal, 1996. that was nice, it came in a little case and we've kept it. embroidery is a great idea of you can do it. my in-laws have a embroidered picture given as a wedding present on their walls, it's of the church and the details of their marriage, if your embroidery is good you could embroider a pic of the church where baby is christened perhaps. mum-in-law did a picture for my baby, it's just tigger, copied from a pattern, it doesn't have to be anything yuou deisgn yourself, it's still special.52% tight0
