I need help finding an original baby present for onw of my good friends. I thought about a baby memory book or something that she or the baby can keep. She already has lots of clothes.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Two friends of mine recently had new babies and I bought them a Terramundi Money Pot. Tradition: Once the first coin is dropped the money pot must be fed until full upon which time it must be smashed whilst making a wish. It is customary to replace the pot and spend the money on 'good things', they bring good fortune.
You can collect about £200 in silver, a good start for a young one. I bought some boring bibs also coz you can NEVER have to many bibs!

I received a lovely silver photo frame that has spaces to put photos in from Birth through to One year from the guys at work when I left to have my youngest.
I don't know where they got it from but I wish I had got one for my eldest...it is so nice to be able to see how much they change in that first year.

Cover a box in baby wrapping paper and make a hamper full of baby toiletries, cotton wool, nappy sacks etc.
You could also add plastic spoons, bowls, sipper cup and teething rings for use in a few months time.
I think it's nice to include a little treat for Mum & Dad too, such as some nice chocs or a bottle of wine. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Adams do some lovely soft newborn baby teddies that they can use as comforters instead of dummies. Quite often a little one will love these teddies and get very attached. A medium size one will last longer and it is worth getting two so that if once gets lost (or dicontinued as happened to us) then there are no upsets - we bought our little boy one when he was born (it was nearly half his size then but not now!) and had to get another later one as he adores it - he calls it Teddy Eddy. So worth thinking about.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I agree with the hamper idea. I make lots of thinks like this in a reuseable wicker basket with lots of practical things in. You could also include a "my first tooth/curl" trinket box as a keepsake. Wrap it in some nice cellophane and add a ribbon. Much more personal than buying a teddy etc and more thought tooI haven't got one!0

The one thing I've put in a request for is a really nice baby record book - John Lewis do a lovely Winnie the Pooh one for about a tenner. I bought one myself for dd1 and it's lovely to look back on the pictures of when she was tiny, also it encouraged me to make notes of what she was doing each week / month which I'm really glad of now as it's all melded into one big blob in my memory and I couldn't even tell you when she got her first tooth!
Also, things from the day the baby's born - a newspaper, no.1 single etc can make a nice keepsake when baby grows up.£2 savers club - £62

March target: £150 on food, £50 on other stuff - still not doing very well at keeping track...

If you are good at needlework cross-stitch a birth sampler. I always do that and mums love it when it's got the baby's name, birthdate and weight on it.0
