Ok what a lot of you are forgetting is you can put what you like down for expenses, but the OR will not allow certain ones. Sky is a big NO NO,no matter what you put down or what reason it will not be allowed. The OR has certain guidelines to follow and thats what we go on here.

I have not followed Queen's posts so i am not entirely sure this I&E is for bc or a dmp. If bc then let me know who is going bc,how many in the house and i will go over it if you want.D

Hi, sorry just looked at soa and I have included school meals, no bust service to school from where we live, sometime we walk but its over 2 1/2 miles, life insurance is joint with critical illness, if we cancel this is would be more expensive next time and would not cover existing illness's, sky I will check again, do have any entertainment but was told that I should put somthing to compensate for the other things I have put nil

I realise that the OR doesnt allow sky :) thats why we never bothered trying to have it on ours lol. I was just saying that to save herself money she could cut it right down if she isn't going BR and just trying to do a DMP instead.
I too am unsure which path she is taking yet, but then again she may be still unsure herself, I know I was for a long time.

Areas where you can reduce your outgoings are electricity/gas. Go on to USwitch and see if you can get a better deal.

If your mobiles are on contract, stop paying and buy cheap PAYG ones, then you can only top up if you have money and it concentraits the mind about using it. The contract will go into your BR

Internet and Sky will have to come out of any surplus you have. Why not talk to sky and get their phone/sky/internet deal? Also reduce your Sky package. We have the £21 a month one and that is fine.

Go through the comparison sites to reduce your car insurance and life insurance. Will get a link.

Also pet insurance and you must get contents insurance.

Hopefully that will get your bills down.

I know and understand that your head is spinning right now, but if your OH is not working and not able to work, then without huge cutbacks, there is no way you are going to be able to keep your house.

I have never been this mean on any SOA - not even my own. But there is no way that you can live a reasonable life and slogg it out for the sake of the house.

Please do not be offended. If your figures and situation are accurate (which I am sure that it very much is), then from where I am standing/reading, its OH health or the house. You cannot do both.

And its not a choice I would be happy making, or trying to sort out.

Would a comparable size rental property be less than the £945 you are paying for mortgage and secured loan?

If you go for voluntary repo. and BR. You need to stop paying mortgage, SL, debts but carry on paying essentials like utilities, council tax etc. Save the money for your deposit and BR fees. Move into a rental property and then go BR.

Queens reply to yhis from the other thread

Hello Tigerfeet, rental property would be approx £650-£750 we down graded but rental on same property would be £800, so yes this would be cheaper but worried about being in rented having to keep moveing if only short term let, and we would need to re-home our dogs, as every advert states no pets

  • Skylight I don't think your comments are mean or offending really, sometimes people need a start reality check, I know I did! It got my head out of the sand and we sorted ourselves out, now we are (just) BR it feels a heck of a lot better already!

Queen I understand how confusing and upsetting this all is, I also know your fears about renting and having to move etc.

We ended up giving our house up for volo repo (still in process) and we actaully rehomed our dogs a while before decding to go BR. At the end of the day I know you must love your pets but your priority is your kids and hubby, not pets. :(

Do you have anyone who could take the dogs on for you for a while till you find somewhere private that takes them or a council property?

My mum and dad also have just had to rehome their dog due to moving, but they needed a roof over their heads as do you.

Please remember no one here is out to upset you or be judgemental, sometimes posts seem harsh when its not intended to be.

    Keep posting, all the best.

  • We have had to move into a private house for a lot less a month but its not exactly our ideal home. Its a bedroom short, gardens are a mess, needs decorating, no pets, 6 months lease lol etc etc

Its nerve wrecking thinking we might have to move again soon and disrupt the kids even more, but we can definatley say the risk of having to move again so soon outways the risk of staying in a house we couldnt afford to live in or upkeep.

Ring Sky and ask about there Sky Talk Surf package. I am sure they will transfer you and put you on the lower packages without worrying that you are in a 12 months contract.

My last Sky bill was £60 and that was for my Sky, telephone and Internet and we have made lots of calls as my MIL is ill at the moment. Before I transfered my last telephone bill was £75  so a big saving for me :D
