Just a warning to anyone tempted by their tax haven ISA or other bank accounts as I was . After research they appear very shady indeed. Most of us know that Barclays were huge supporters of the apartheid in south africa and provided loans for the cruel regime. This lead to a boycott from students during the 80's and after their support finished the regime soon collapsed. More details for those unaware of this are here- http://www.news24.com/News24/Columnists/Jon_Qwelane/0,,2-1630-1633_1704803,00.html
Now in the past year or so it appears that they are at it again supporting corrupt governments and illegal activities. Money from our pockets will indirectly be supporting this travesty in Zimbabwe as Barclays opporate in Zimbabwe and conditionally have to provide loans to the government (total-allegedly £750m) which will further inequality and corruption whilst also providing funds for the regime and illegal activities. This is banned by EU leglislation but as Barclays have banks there there is no legal ground for court action. More details are here:

I thought that we should all be aware of this and I also encourage you to research the investments that the banks make with our money. We indirectly and unintentionally support a lot of unethical and illegal acitivities.
