  • It made me cringe when I saw an Optometrist wipe the head and chin rest of a machine with a bog-standard wipe (no pun intended) to perform an eye-check for a teen.

Sorry. I didn't mean to cause offence or misquote you. To clarify, I have requoted just the relevant paragraph of your original comment so it is clear for everyone to see.

Furthermore, I doubt toilet cleaning duties would be carried out in the middle of a clinic.

Finally. Many thanks for using the correct title of "Optometrist" rather than the more commonly used "Optician".

The toilet cleaning duties are being carried out during the day, inbetween seeing patients.

Hands are not being washed afterwards. The staff are not trained in cleanliness. Just told to clean the toilets. Full stop.

The wipes are left to sit out of the box, and reused (and that's when I suggest reused from where - disgusting to even think where!)
    Invented tradition: Couponology

    Fancy title: Couponologist

    Motto: Because I have conviction doesn't mean I'm a convict :D.

I cannot believe this for a minute. If this is true, then you should report this to the local health department. Never mind posting it on a forum, it should be reported to the authorities.

Anyone know where a current D&A voucher can be found? There's a 50% voucher from their own website. I've also found a free test under the BUPA members' offers which anyone can download but I'd feel cheeky using that, and could get caught if they ask for BUPA membership proof.
