Have you put the heating on yet?

If we were in my old flat with night storage heaters then my heating would be on now as the flat was a damp, hell hole.
We have moved in to a brand spanking new house with gas ch and I am actually still just wearing tshirts, though I have started wearing tights, but even then I am feeling a trifle warm.
So it looks like it might be a while longer till our heating goes on.:DBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Don't **EVER** do that!
BBQs belt out loads of carbon monoxide. You'd be very dead, very quickly.
In fact recently: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10531314&ref=rss
ZTD, I'm joking... Well kind of... Any open fire in an enclosed space is dangerous without ventilation so don't try this at home kids. But it does throw up a few ideas. It might be worth while getting hold of a pot belly stove for heating and boiling water. These can be piped quite easily and produce plenty of heat from rubbish paper blocks or scrap wood and are pretty safe.
Granted you will not be a tree hugging Eco warrior using one of these but as people can no longer afford fuel bills and the government are point blank refusing to help people with fuel costs I think it might be an idea worth looking in to.0 -

If you can spare the time "retained heat" cooking might be an alternative. Google for that or "wonder box cooking"."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I had a look in asda last night but they haven't got any really thick jumpers or winter coats in yet, either they're a bit later than usual or they're not going to have any this year, I hope it's the former!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

If you're looking for warmth over style - try the ex-catalogue shops. My dad picked up a good warm coat in there for about £7."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'm not bothered about style! There's a catalogue shop in Armley, I used to get real bargains when I lived there so I'll have a wander up and look there, thanks! And I did notice Asda had some mens jumpers cheap, I might get a couple of them.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

It really p***es me off when people put the heating on and then leave the windows open.
I live with a large family who like to be really warm (im not that bothered myself and for me to put the heating on is like me admitting im ill....)
The heating in our house is alwayts on and they put it on constant not just on timer. I would rather put a jumper on or something, but they walk round in shorts and tshirts with the heating on leaving doors and windows open as they go.
Might as well set light to my wallet, i turned the boiler right down to absolute minimum though to try and save some money for when im not in the house and i cant switch it off.
I have even considered getting a home automation system where you can access the central heating controls over the internet so that i can switch it off from wherever i am.
That will teach them.....0 -
