New ISP; what happens to AOL email?

I am considering my options regarding broadband. I have been an AOL customer for ages...on the slowest broadband that aol provide (silver or bronze)
My aol email address is my main one I use; for all internet banking etc
It would be a pain to change this individually
What happens to the email address; can I still access it through the web if I cancel my account? Is it possible to hook it up to outlook express?

When you change ISPs you will be able to receive your AOL emails for a while but will not be able to send anymore.
The best thing to do is to get yourself a Goggle mail/or similar account which is independent of your ISP.
If you get it sorted out ahead of changing ISPs you will have time to let people know your new address. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

AOL give free email addresses as well even if Broadband provider is elsewhere.0 -

Yep you can keep accessing your AOL email when you stop using them for net access, i think you need to register or something tho to stop them deleting the account0 -

I noticed that.
I just wondered if I would be allowed to continue with my original name for a reasonable length of time, or if they would take the names away immediately (as their only revenge!)
Anyone had direct experience of what happens when you leave AOL?0 -

After I wrote to them to get them to cease billing me and close my account (they didn't close it automaticaly after I migrated) when I logged in to the billing summary page to make sure they had done so https://onlinebill.aolsvc.co.uk/yourbill/app?service=direct/0/SummaryView/formCurrentBillingPeriod&sp=S0 It confirmed that my account was closed and offered an option to retain AOL email addresses.0

I`m also contemplating leaving AOL and also wondered what would happen to my AOL email accounts. If I can keep them as you have said then that is excellent news.
However no doubt you lost all your old emails and address book in the PFC (Personal Filing Cabinet ) File?...or did you find a way to save them?
And did you manage to save your "Favourites" in any way ?
If the answer is "Yes" then that will clinch my departure from AOL as soon as poss! !
