Is this for next year, or for this year? Next year's forms aren't out yet, I don't think. For this year, you can call the helpline.0

The forms and guidance notes will be in the process of being signed off at this time, I imagine. Forms should be available from April/May 2009.0

Have you signed a 'contract part 2' or learning contract? The bonus cannot be processed without it. It's also based on 'academic progress' rather than attendance but if the college is withholding it they would need to inform you. Have a word first with the EMA co-ordinator to see if it's been processed. If they say it has gone through then call the EMA helpline as it's probably in the pipeline.0 -
contact your college, first port of call.0

I have signed a contract but I don't think it's the part 2 one that you are talking about. Will speak to 6th form head of year tomorrow. Thanks!0

Hi.
At what age does entitlement to EMA stop, 18 or 19 (have heard it's for students 16,17 or 18 but also for 16-19 yr olds). If it's only for under 19s does it stop when you turn 19 even if you're still on an eligible course? Thanks0 -

Can anyone advise me with this problem........
Just before Xmas my husband suddenly lost his job and is just recieving 'contribution based' Jobseekers allowance. This runs out in 6 weeks time.
I didnt bother to make an EMA application as I knew our income from tax year 07/08 would be too high to qualify but hoped that we could make a successful claim once the new tax year started.
Currently I earn approx £8500 year and my husband will get another £360 before his JSA stops. This is our income for the next financial year
I have been told by the EMA helpline that even though we will be on a very low income, my son will not qualify for EMA because they can only base an application on income from the previous tax year ending 08/09 where our joint income was about £33000. Surely there must be other people caught in this situation.
If your child gets EMA and your financial situation vastly increases over the current limits they are guaranteed to continue getting the same rate for three years but this does not work in reverse!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone help?0
