Bulb rental?

I've just booked my first EPC. So much for there being a rush on...they could do it this afternoon ;) . Anyway, I've booked it for later in the week, once they said that they advise I change all bulbs to energy saving ones before the assessor comes round.

So...where can I rent loads of energy saving bulbs, including halogen ones, for a couple of hours? :D

I don't want to leave them there permanently, or for marketing the flat, as it'll make the place very very gloomy, & they look rubbish.

    I'm serious!:D
  • I shouldn't bother, if I were you. After all, it's not like anybody's going to read the damn thing.

In that case, you might be interested in a house I've got for sale... ;)

I think you might find you are wasting your money.

There was a thread on here a few months ago where a LL said a similar thing and how they would remove the bulbs after the EPC had been done ...ha ha. Someone replied something along the lines that the answer to that was nearly as funny, as the EPC was on the light socket and not the bulbs (because they can be removed). Not sure how true that was as I never checked it.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

If you take the bulbs out completely, do you get 100% energy efficient?
  • It really does come down to how many buyers actually take any notice of or understand the EPC.

I routinely write to buyer clients telling them not to take literally the generalised supposed estimated savings resulting from loft insulation, more efficient central heating etc.

Trouble is I bet someone will put up a thread in a year or two saying that they installed the loft insulation and they didn't save £x per year.....

You might have read my reply to a post a month or so ago maybe.

I stated that when I had the hip made up for my Apartment for selling earlier in the year the Energy Efficiency thing was carried out and they marked me down a full level d-e or something like that due to not having the Energy Efficient Light bulbs. :o

For those who are saying about people not reading them or taking notice I think they may well be right... I did'nt when looking at where I bought tbh.

But maybe in a year or two's time (if hips still exist then) when there is a glutt of houses back on the market as the mortgages start to come back from banks then I suppose if there are two equally nice houses your interested in and one is MUCH high on the scale then it might sway you :rotfl:
