Yes, let nanny take them for the day out! Tesco points can be used for many things. For the last three years I have saved Boots points for Christmas- once the three for 2 deals kick in you can probably get quite a few presents- having said that keep it very low key this year to avoid more debt. Join your local Freecycle group and see what you can pick up off there- you'll be surprised what people give away.
Do you go to any church playgroups- all the pre-school mummy and baby ones are in churches around our area and though some can be cliquey ours is really friendly. Some have babysitting circles where they swap time-might give you a break if you can find people you would trust with you precious charges!
Will look into the groups again am on Netm--- now having a look! but there is always one woman at these things that grates me! You know the sort sooo much better than you and knows everything!?
Kids been up/home for just over an hour house is trashed and they whining to go out!!
How do you cope at times like this? Weather is awful mioght just stick jackets and wellies on and go for a walk in the puddles not fun for me tho. I hate the rain.
Am on freecycle just tend to delete rahter than read ever. Do people give away unused things?? I mean my parents or Dhs would rahter get nothing than something used! (so would I actually)

About your Barclaycard - they've got an offer for existing customers to balance transfer at 6.9%. Might be worth seeing if you can move anything onto it from Egg?0

I understand that we all have our own views and are entitled to our opinions, which is why I am posting but am being careful how I word this
The above comment... is that really the attitude to have when you and your fmily are in the position you're in? WHAT is wrong with receiving a gift from someone that has been 'used'..? Last Christmas, we had no cash at all (we're on a DMP ourselves, btw) and consequently, could only buy very small pressies for family. At the last minute, like Christmas Eve  I was gifted a little girl's Dolls House from my local Freecycle. This we gave to my little sister as a Christmas gift, and she still loves it now, playing with it every day. Yes it was 'used', but it still had bags of life in it and is now being enjoyed by someone else. There is nothing wrong with receiving something, or giving something, that is second-hand... it is the THOUGHT that counts, afterall. Well in my house it is.
You made a comment somewhere about the woman who 'thinks she is sooo much better than you', etc etc................ maybe you need to look at your own attitude, because I have found a few of your comments offensive. I'm not AT ALL trying to cause a row or have any bad feeling, just think that you might benefit from a change to your outlook..?"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Hey I dont mind the comments. I dont mind toys etc!! And my kids would be fine happy with that. They have no idea do they they are little!! I know I see things a little warped I am still converting.
I just mean is there likely to be something on there that I could give to my parents or DH's paretns, these are people with HUGE incomes no mortgages no debt?
My kids yes, My parents no?
Sorry not sure how to word it either!BSC Member 207 :beer:Mummy to 3 Wonderful Children 2 Boys and a Princess0 -
I would just say that it is always worth checking every 'OFFERED' post on your local Freecycle, because you really do never know what will be offered next! I have had some wonderful things gifted to me/us, and likewise, we have given away lots of things too. Yes, I've picked something up before that was a bit TOO battered for the purpose I wanted it for, but until you pick something up you don't know what it will be like. Most things I've had (be it a TV, microwave, clothing, ornaments, etc) have looked 'as new' and been in perfect condition. It doesn't take much effort to box something up and wrap it, making it seem 'brand new' again... I just think it's always worth checking. Even if, from now until Christmas, you only picked up two things that you thought were suitable for gifts, that is two less things for you to pay out for when the time comes.
... and it seems to be coming around quicker and quicker... lol!
EDIT: There are always school uniforms being offered too, nothing wrong with them other than the children have grown out of them quickly... so this could also save you money."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Hi - do they really need anything? We are not currently skint although last Christmas was tighter than previously, but amongst the adults we do not buy big things. Quite often we "give" charitable donations, unless we see something that we think someone else would love.
And sometimes the best gifts cost very little. For one adult, a very old OS map of their area, bought for 10p in the library sale had them in raptures and gave a huge amount of pleasure. I had to reason with myself to stop myself buying extra presents because it was so cheap. The person is very active locally and gets a continued kick out of being able to check back on the use of a place whenever they want.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hia, I had exactly the same problems as you when I had my 2nd baby 14years ago (I now have 4). I gave up work to be a SAHM and it was hard at first but once I adjusted I realised that I actually enjoyed it. It did mean I had to re-evaluate all of our expenses and start living in the real world (which was hard because I was used to a comfy life). I got rid of childcare (although living in Wales we are lucky that all children are entitled to a part time place in Nursery school at 3 years old), the council run some great mum +toddler/baby groups which I used to get some free social interaction/play till their worn out, through this I made some great friends and formed a babysitting circle for some much needed "grown up" time. I sold my expensive to run car and bought a small cheap one, and started to walk most places - I made a fun thing out of it, pointing out things to the kids on the way, passing through the park for some more free fun time/feeding ducks. I cut up our credit cards and used cash for everyday things (and debit card for internet). My phone is a cheap PAYG one - only used in an emergency or if the school need me in an emergency or for people to call me. I convinced grandparents that what the kids really needed for christmas (especially when they were young) was clothes - they already had too many toys. I was (and still am) totally ruthless when it came to budgeting - do I really need it?
It is going to be hard with your next child because she's a girl - and you will have the huge urge to go and buy loads of pretty girly things (I did) but try and reuse as many things as you can from the boys. Start buying one or two bits every month now (packets of own brand nappies etc) so you will have a stock by january when your costs will really increase. I used terry nappies for when I was in the house (using disposables for going out - carrying wet nappies everywhere didn't appeal!), just soak in a bucket and wash - altogether cost about £20 and saved a fortune.
We eventually got our finances on a more managable level and after a good few years became debt free, it was hard and sometimes I wondered what I had become but it was worth it. Especially as the kids get older and they want more money than ever - pocket money, school uniform (my 11 year old has just cost me £150 for a basic comprehensive school uniform this month),school trips, craft projectsdinner money, driving lessons (eldest is now 17!) etc - they get more expensive, so now is the time to save as much as you can.
I am concerned that you don't have any content insurance on your house - the average home has approx £20-30K worth of stuff in it (just try and imagine how much it would cost to replace just your clothes).
Good luck with the new baby, enjoy every moment with them, they grow up way too fast. Being a SAHM can be the most stressful but rewarding job in the world - what other job is there where you will be remembered in 100 years time and the little traditions you have and the things you do and say will be passed on to generations to come.
I wish you well0
