Wouldn't touch this with a bargepole.
What happens when you decide you don't want their service any more?
Assuming you haven't recruited any new customers (how many people get a new dialup account these days??), you would potentially owe them the difference between 50% of you dialup 'revenue' and £1995. That looks rather an expensive dialup to me. Assuming you incur £10/month of dialup costs, that's £5 revenue, less BT's call cost share, so say £3/month to offset your £1995 'indefinitely' deferred setup fee.
So, divide £1995 by 3 and you get just over (665 month) 55 years before you get to the break-even point and cancel without paying any of their £1995.
I'd suggest ditching your NTL line, get a BT line and get broadband from £10/month upwards. Might work out a 'little' bit cheaper...British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
