What happens when you spend using the card? I probably will want to spend in dribs and drabs until the end of December, rather than spend the whole £150 in one go.

Do they just debit your Asda savings card each time until it gets to zero?

    yes.......
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
  • There is a number to call to check balances on the cards.......I was going to ring to check when they have to be used by but don't have time as I'm working all weekend so if anybody is at a loose end?????
    Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £60
  • The cashier can tell you that.
When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........
  • This is a strange T&C, but its been on their Xmas cards for 3 years now.

I implemented another major retaillers gift cards and when we examined this we felt it to be a daft term for quite a few reasons:-

a.) its actually quite hard to do technically and involves quite a bit of work at the back end
b.) its a customer service nightmare come 1st jan for people who didn't realise
c.) why do it in the 1st place? Customers can't get their money back from the cards, you know they'll spend it with you, so why worry.

As advised I would take the cashiers advice with a BIG pinch of salt unless it has been specifically told to them by head office. If not, then its their opinion not asda's (if you get my meaning). I know if it was my (ex) company, the people in the stores may not have the latest or most accurate info....

Sorry I know the cashier can tell you how much you have on your card and its also on the receipt............what I meant was that the people on the help line no. may be able to give us officiallly the date the cards have to be used by. (and not lose bonus)

I asked again on my visit to Asda and was AGAIN told it doesnt matter when you use them but like another poster....I aint convinced!!.

  • We were right to not be convinced!!

Ive just rung customer services at my local asda, and she said that they have to be used by the 31st Dec or you lose the bonus.

So I promptly informed her that staff on checkouts were giving out wrong information and this needs to be corrected.........unless this is a devious ploy by asda to not pay out the bonus? Hmmmm call me cynical (is that spelt right?) but I don't trust anyone these days

  • Asda Great Barr Birmingham have flyers about the Xmas Saving Card. It states that if you do not spend all the money on your card this year, then it will be carried over to next year.

Yes but you will lose the bonus if you dont spend it before 31st December which kind of defeats the object in my eyes.

After 31st December, you only lose the bonus that you achieved, you don't lose the money that you have saved! So if you have £144 on your card and you don't use it, you will lose your six pound bonus at the end of the year. However, you can still use it again for the year after!

However, should your card remain inactive for 24 months or more, ASDA reserves the right to deduct £1 per month as an administration fee.

    Hope this makes sense.
