Making sure you get sufficient good quality sleep is no joking matter it may increase your Alzhiemer's riskMay also cause 'stubbed toe syndrome'
Poor Sleep Elevates Fall Risk for Older Women
If you think you may need to use the loo at night than clear away all the obstacles and potential hazards before you turn off the light. Really you need subdued lighting for about an hour before you go to bed as well.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Now wouldn't it be great if you could get THAT on the NHS?!
For lots of info on SAD and Lumie products (I have a dawn alarm clock from them, thinking about getting a desk lamp too this year) check out www.lumie.com
Boots have some Lumie products too, quite pricey at the mo though, I have seen them reduced around winter time but may be too late by then?

Don't forget that what matter for SAD therapy is the intensity of the light source and this is affected by the distance the light has to travel before it reaches your eyes.
So a small bright light very close has the same impact as a more 4x more powerful light source twice than distance away from your eyes.
There is only so much bright light you can comfortably stand.
You may find these cheapo lights Argos £39.99 is sufficient because you can sit nearer to it or this Screwfix £19.99 has the same light tube source as SADLAMPS costing over £100.
Also it is a fact that effective strength D3 solves the problem for many people these certainly solved my SADMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

SAD Lamps or lights advice would be great
SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) lamp....
this would probably be fine for most people £19.99. Energy Saving 2D Task Light 38W
But do be aware I haven't used my sadlights for over 2 yrs now, they are still in the attic. Since I raised my D3 status above 125nmol/l with 4000iu/daily although I have to admit that I'm even better with 5000iu/daily. always better to eliminate the cause than for ever treat the symptoms.0 -
ta 4 screwfix link. sad lite sources are such a rip off. as a ps i'd also pass on the my own experience of the benefits of omega oils - got a massive load of freebie oil pills last year and because they were free, i took them. my mood has been appreciably more stable. much to my amazement.0

He always said he wanted a SAD lamp but we came to live in Spain instead. He still gets depressed although we have a nice blue sky and sunshine in the winter, but feels a bit better when he sees the blue sky (if that makes any sense).
Would be interested to hear about the SAD lamps though in case we are ever in the UK in the winter.
Sounds like you found the best solution - the move to warmer climbs

Pixmania dawn light alarm radio £85 You may get cashback via quidco.
Please don't take this as a personal recommendation. I'm just aware some people still won't follow the information I suggest may be helpful and may prefer to use a light like this than treat the cause of the problem with effective strength Vitamin D.
These are what I use to maintain my Vitamin D status at summer levels throughout the year
If you want a liquid UK source then these should be OK.
If ever I don't reply to a post aimed in my direction, it's probably because I haven't seen it. I spend a lot of time elsewhere on other forums so sometimes miss new posts here. Hello Take a look on https://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. They sell true daylight bulbs that you put into standard light fittings. They are called "BioBulbs".They are energy efficient and last for YEARS!! Since you just have them on when you would normally have a light on in a room there is none of the having to sit in front of a lightbox for a set time.
You should find answers to any questions you may have about them on this site. I find them excellent and they have made such a difference to me. Briefly these bulbs give off a white light that is as close to daylight as you can get (for this reason they are termed "full spectrum", as in the full visual colour spectrum).
They help to keep your body's natural hormonal rhythms as they should be (we are, after all, governed by daylight and are not supposed to be nocturnal!) I turn mine off by 10pm at night (guessing that the sun goes down by 10pm on the longest day) and don't have one in my bedroom because sunlight wakes us up. First thing in the morning I can feel my eyes waking up as soon as I come downstairs and switch one of these on so it suits me to have one in my kitchen light fitting. Hope this helps.0 -
Oops- forgot that we're not to put website names Sorry..... Go to any natural product site and you'll probably find them or just do a general search for "Full Spectrum Daylight Bulbs"0
