I confess, I confess...that was me at aged 23. But I did it on a type of Social credit instead.pickles110564 wrote: »If you can not afford children you should not have them, all you become is an extra strain on society.
I waited until I was 32 before our first child was born.
You need to save up in life and not expect everything to be handed to you on a plate.
I was lucky (or I am totally, utterly fab as a wife
) as OH is still the same one.
We got a council flat (no, it's not to be envied). We have always worked so can't confess to having loads of benefits too.
We only stuck the flat out for 3 years and gave it back to the council, it was that bad.
There's never a right time for a baby.0 -
Oh well.....perhaps I am missing something? This Internet Land is a strange place sometimes No offence to anyone on here...just how I see it.

But I don't want to go back to Telly Land and Real Life Land is over for another day......and I don't do Pretend Land (computer games etc)
How about we all avoid the land where total strangers make remarks like this "I expect you eat babies too." to other total strangers.0 -
I spend time in 'Dealing with the General Public Everyday Land' ....could be why I am thick skinned. Some of the scorn that they lay on you is hard to believe.mr.broderick wrote: »How about we all avoid the land where total strangers make remarks like this "I expect you eat babies too." to other total strangers.
''I am a customer so I can treat you with utter scorn, rudeness and indifference''....and I smile back sweetly and politely enquire if there is anything else? (which translates to ''let's try and get some of your ££ into my till''
I still don't think it's tooooo...oh I give up I can't explain myself properly. Brain is tired0 -

I challenge you to come on here now and defend this lunatic. She should be reported to the education services. God help the families out there who have children being taught by her. Makes you want to unsuscribe to this forum. I am seething.
You've obviously missed the literary reference here - I suggest you go and check out Jonathan Swift before laying into Carol.
Also, any suggestion that somebody should be reported to their employers for something said here is pretty outrageous. You want this person to lose her job because you disagree with what she said. That's pretty mean-sprited of you. In any case, I think you have missed her point entirely. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Getting back to reality, after 119 votes, we are at an average of -22% . Also, 2 brave souls have voted for a 20% increase over the next two years! Hmmm?!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I am surprised it's as bad as that face to face. After ten minutes being shunted around by computerised voices on a telephone system, though, I am pretty much ready to murder the first real person I speak to. It doesn't matter how good they are. They have a mountain of ill-will to combat.
[Oh dear, Mr B's going to want to report me to my employers for saying that bit about murder. Tough luck, Mr B, I'm self-employed. In any case, I was not meaning to be taken literally.]No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I do no usually comment on mr b's personal attacks on me, and shall not do so on this occasion either, except to explain the cause of the attacks to those mystified by them.
For those unaware of the 'history', mr b at some point in the past, for reasons best known to himself, developed a 'crush' on me - he posted numerous flirtateous comments, turned any reply I made into a lewd response and seemed to take any reply, positive or negative, as some sort of 'come on'. Bizarre, given that for all he knew I could look like a cross between the hunchback of Notre Dame and the back of a bus.
Anyway, realising that nothing I could say would stop him and only seemed to encourage him, I developed a policy of ignoring him.
He seemed to find this very difficult to take and posts increasingly inflammatory personal attacks in a desperate attempt to draw a response - of any kind.
Bit like a naughty child who craves attention, even if it's just being told off.
Thus he has started several threads in my honour and regularly weighs in to denounce me in melodramatic tones.
Others might like to be aware of this when reading his posts re me - it just helps to see them in context.
Should add, no idea if he still feels this way about me, or whether my lack of response has had the successful effect of ending his interest.
I sincerely hope so, though his continued obsession with me would suggest that sadly, it may not have done. When I finally draw no interest from him, then I will know that he has recovered.....0 -

Where does that stupid statement about me eating babies come from?
No - I've never been 'a strain on society'. We've always paid our own way, rent privately, and pay our taxes same as everyone else. It was our decision to have children and I love it! Our children will no doubt in due course be working to pay for your pension when you are old.
But it is very hard on some children, as I said, who are forced - through no fault of their own - to live in unsuitable accommodation. And very hard on young couples who likewise, through no fault of their own, are forced - due to ludicrously high house prices - to postpone having children they would love to have until it's too late, or to work all hours and never see the children they do have.
Oh, and do develop a sense of humour. :rolleyes:0 -

It is official you really are deluded and please do not try to deflect from the real issue here that you accused a member on here of eating children.0 -

Jonathan swift gullivers travels?
Excuse my ignorance i don't remember the reference to people eating babies and i definitely do not think it should be said in the 21st century and i definitely think it shouldn't be said by a teacher who we are depending on to mould our children.0
