Hi Biggad and Zorro. I am sorry you are having trouble. A few weeks back i also had trouble with them reneging and actually wrote to head office etc ... but thats a different story. When I went this morning, I went armed with their price promise printed out ... It clearly states:

'This applies to prices offered by retailers within 30 miles of your local PC World store and the UK websites listed below. '

You can find this on the home page of pcworld. However, when I went instore, they also have posters up all over the place too.
At first, the assistant told me that they could not price match because morrisons was not on their 'website list'. I politely pointed out that I had already rang their price promise specifc dept, 0844 561 0000 to confirm that it is ANY retail store within thirty miles and NOT restricted to websites alone!
If I were you, I would ring the above number, tell them of your problems, expense of going to the store etc, the fact that it is clearly misrepresentation and maybe even tell them that trading standards would be very interested. The pcworld telephone service has the ability to take your money over the phone and post your goods out to you, so maybe you should try this.
I do hope you succeed. I really despise stores that make a promise then wont keep to it, and I do actually feel they should be reported if they won't keep to their word!

Thanks, but this is the number I rang and after taking my order and confirming they have them in stock they said they no longer price match Morrisons? I said "since when" as I know they definately did in the past and as I have a number of Morrisons within 30 miles expected them to honour their price pledge. but she stuck to her guns and said they now only price match electrical stores????
:j Always look on the bright side of life:j
  • that was good of them, i remember gamestation do price match plus extra discount too
  • I just emailed them inquiring about this..hope i get a response back. Not sure where my nearest PC world store is though.

    EDIT:
Thank you for your email dated 08 September 2008. This has been received by our Customer Services team and will be dealt with shortly.
We will keep you updated on progress made and will provide a resolution within 5-7 working days of receipt.

Great..they'll probably ignore me until the offers over, lol
  • Boo, there's no Morrisons in Northern Ireland... so no chance of price match from PC world there....
  • I'm really sorry about the problem, but pcworld should not be allowed to try and wrigle out of their empty promises. NOWHERE in their offer wording does it state that its only electical stores! In fact, almost the opposite, they add that they will NOT price match televisions. Fair enough.
I know people will say that the morrisons deal is a good one so be happy with that ... that is fine, but why do pcworld have a pricepromise? To reassure customers they are getting the best deal when this is clearly NOT the case. As my original post shows, there are many wii games suppliers who sell cheaper than pcworld, like lovefilm, hut, asda, gamestation, play. PCWorld have large poster in store stating "We will NOT be beaten on price". Anyway, I suppose you either complain or accept it. I for one am going to write to them once again, including a copy of my previous pricematch complaint for which they apologised. I will also be telling them that watchdog, local press and trading standards are to be notified because it seems that it is not a one off genuine mistake by a single assistant but a consistent effort by all pcworld staff including telephone ops to avoid price matching at all costs!
I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.
  • Well PC World phone line people want to stick to one story then. I phoned up last night. They did not mention anything about Morrisons not being an electrical store. They just said that they cannot price match because Morrisons were selling them at a 'sale' price and not retail price.
The thing is on their page of 'won't be beaten on price', they do not mention anything about 'except sale prices'.
I think they are just saying anything to avoid price matching.

Won't work and doubt it ever did despite what the OP said.

PC World head office sent a fax out before opening to all stores yesterday (which was shown to me when I tried).

It makes it clear that as the Morrisons price has a condition attached (one copy of each title per customer) it is not a valid price for the price match.

 Strange just got back from the Portsmouth PC World of Eastern Rd and they price matched my 4 DS games and 4 Wii games the sales chap just said ok no problem, saved a huge bundle on xmas pressies.:rotfl: :T Thanks op,
  • This is so not on
I rang my local morrisons they said they had the wii and ds games in stock that I wanted, then I rang PC world head office to check they had them in stock in my local PC world and that they would honour the deal. They checked the stock of both themselves and morrisons and said they would honour it no problems they reserved the stock at my local store then gave me a referance number.
Then I arrived at my pc world and the manager said no way, he then said morrisons did not have all of them in stock ( so if they sell on the way to you driving to the store it dosn't work) and the 3 games they did have he would not price match or discount in any way, I pointed out the price promise and he said each manager of each store has the final decision and his was NO! He even said if they are that cheep in morrisons I wanna get some.
Then the beach games for the wii that they have in asda and on play.com on offer he said he would price match it but no 10 % disc!!!!!:mad::mad:
He was extremly rude and not helpful. I was absolutly disgusted!
  • What a great thread. I just picked up Mario Kart with the wheel for £13.50 from PC World. They initially said they didnt price match morrisons but when I pointed out their advert said they priced match stores within 30 miles they were happy to process the order. The ironic thing is that all Morrison branches I phoned in the area were out of stock anyway so I was even more !!!!-a-hoop :T
