Beating the money grabbing fuel companies.

Morning all. I just looked at my fuel bills and was so happy that I had to share it with you. I recently moved into an old 2 bed stone house that is about as energy efficient as the first lightbulb, I did a bit of research and took a flyer by switching my bills to a company I hadn't heard of called Ebico (http://www.ebico.co.uk/html/home.php). My elec and gas bills are now around £25 per month combined, saving me in the region of £35-50 a month. Ebico are non profit making and seem to be pretty unheard of. I did the switch through Uswitch and havent looked back since.
P.S. I work from home as well, so our place is pretty fuel hungry. Happy days though!

Ebico's prices are very similar to all the other companies. They are fairly well known - if they were that cheap, everyone would be their customers.
Are you actually paying £35-50 a month less - or is that how much less your monthly direct debit is ?
I fear you may well be in for a nasty shock !!0 -

yeah seems to be a common ploy with energy companies. You need to look at how much per Kwh they charge for gas and electric. Only way to save is invest in more insulation etc.0

Well, I currently get a letter from them each month saying 'we owe you £x' and it goes up each month rather than down. Yes there was an uplift in price a couple of months after I joined making me think 'oh, here we go'. So I did a quick check this morning on a comparison site and the best alternative I could find was £300 a year more expensive. Be as synical as you want, but it seems to be working so far. I promise if it all goes belly up I will be straight back on here with my tail between my legs, but if it carries on at this rate my yearly bills will have been about £300/350 in total, which I think is pretty good for an old stone house with no insulation and two occupants, but then I'm just a newbie...

Firstly there are hundreds of posts about Ebico on this forum, so they are well known - at least here.
As you have "recently moved in" it is difficult to see how you can know what a true monthly Direct Debit figure should be.
How did you do a 'quick check' on a comparison site. The only way to get anything like a realistic comparison is to enter the annual consumption in kWhs for both gas and electricity.
That said, Ebico are an excellent company by all accounts, especially for low users, but savings are nothing like the figures you indicate.
Don't forget also that Ebico have yet to follow the 'Big 6' in raising their prices and they have sent emails to some customers warning them that this will soon happen.0
