Internet connection speed?

Was trying to watch a live game with 700MB of Ram and a 2600+ processor and I had no chance to see it,
Then I thought I would check my ISP connection speed
I got Download Speed: 2323 kbps (290.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 360 kbps (45 KB/sec transfer rate)
Is that slow?
If I got a new computer would it still be slow or would the upload/download speed be better? or is it just a slow connection. AOL said I have 4MB? line but it runs through my BT line

thats about a 2.3meg connection, what ISPs do is say that you can have UPTO XXmeg connection (I have upto 8meg) but it all depends on your location from the exchange ect. I get 3.2 meg.
A faster PC wont speed up your Internet connection, it will speed up how fast data is handle inside the PC though."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Should I get a new ISP or is that okay?0

TBH depends how much your paying for the service. I never bothered with AOL ect, always been a BT man myself, apart from a year or two with plusnet. If its a stable and reliable connection and your happy paying what your paying then its ok.
have a look at some of the review sites and you might find a better deal
http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ aint a bad site for them but theres loads more out there if you google isp reviews
but bear in mind there will probably be a gap between cancelling your current ISP and getting another one, of a week or two."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

It would be doubtful if a different ISP could give you any faster connection if it's coming down the same phone line, as they would not be able to move you closer to the exchange or improve the quality of your line.Should I get a new ISP or is that okay?Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Utter tosh, many ISP's throttle their customers speeds, I left Plusnet and went to IDNet, my speeds shot up and have stayed up for almost 2 years now.
You usually get what you pay for with ISP's.;)0 -
It might not be your end that has the problem, it could be the server end with too many connection from it.0

go get o2 broadband cheap and good0

2323 kbps is about 300 KB - divide bits per second by 8 to get bytes.
seems a bit slow if you have a 4MB connection

=2.323 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]
=2323 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second]
=0.29 MB/sec [Megabyte-per-second]

I agree, I get "up to" 16mb unlimited for £10 a month with O2 (that takes into account a £5 per month discount because I have an O2 pay and go mobile) other wise it would be £15pm. My speeds now are 14mb down/1.3mb up = very happy :money: !
I was actually with AOL last year on their "up to 8mb" connection and it was ok-ish (averaged 5mb speeds) until they started to throttle speeds down to less than 512kbps! during evenings. My protests about paying for an "unlimited service" fell on deaf ears and I would never ever recommend AOL to anyone EVER!0 -

yeah I left plus net just when they were introducing there "Fair Usage Policy". other ISPs like virgin have introduced bandwidth throttling, for those using large amounts of downloads during certain times.
