It's good news till tomorrow though, as we are all still on a downward spiral.

But do people on here really believe my post will actually stop house prices from falling?

I am just surprised that any bad news is greeted with open arms.
Any good news and some of you go mad and accuse people of mad assumptions, is there a rationality problem on here (not aimed at yourself)

It just shows how desperate some people are for a crash.

How is it necessarily good news? The fact that you assume it is shows your starting prejudice. What's bad news for you as a recent house purchaser could be good news for others.

Good news for our own banking system and economy is good news for the whole of the UK.
I presume you want anarchy and houses mad of Poo in the future!
  • With shares in banks going through the roof. Do we think this has got rid of a lot of the sub-prime risks posed to the UK banks?

I don't know, to be honest. I thought (but I could easily be wrong) that a large part of hte problem is the sub-prime mortages packaged up and sold on, so the UK banks would still own those.

  • Sorry I do not see that, it is the American way they have to do it bigger and better than anyone else. Even housing bubbles!

In terms of overall size, yes, it was bigger. But I understand that in terms of personal debt per capita, and house prices compared with income, our bubble left the USA standing.

  • Surely this is good news for our banking sector, what is wrong with some of you! Do you not want that! Do you want banks to fold? Straight answers would be nice.

I don't want banks to fold.

I don't know if it will be good news for the UK or not.

It's nothing to do with buying a house. It's bad news for anyone who wants the UK to go banktrupt, plenty of those on MSE.

I think a bit of confidence into the markets is a good thing, personally.
  • I cant see why the markets have reacted this way when it was fairly obvious that the US government was going to take them over.
