I noticed this thread in our website referrers list - 5 people visited our site from this!! As you can tell I work at Flooringsupplies.co.uk, and thought I would just post a courtesy message here.

gardnt1 is quite right in our opinion regarding "Quickstep all the time". Its the only laminate floor we supply, for a good reason. It does not give us any problems, it fits together great, and looks good too.

I wont go on as Im sure I will breach the board rules, suffice to say you know where to find us if we can help.

    Thanks :)

  • Sorry, bit dim, but I was trying to work out what :money: meant - does the MSE forum need some flooring?

I had a thought that maybe MSE would like to cover the world of flooring, be it on the site or radio discussion (I listen when I get a chance).

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I have laid loads of floors, and used laminate and real wood. I found click together real wood was the best of all, but expensive.

Anyhow, my point is DON'T USE A JIGSAW! The cuts can be reasonably straight, but you only have 1 or 2 mm to play with so, for the sake of £30, go down to Homebase and buy a powered mitre saw. MUCH quicker (speed is the thing to do 2 rooms in a day) and more accurate. It is also invaluable to cut correct angles for the beading.

Here is one at £20, but out of stock so it is just for the picture really

If link fails, go to https://www.homebase.co.uk and search mitre

    Good luck.
