Landlady ordered to pay damages to serial rapist for clearing his flat after arrest

As soon as your convicted of any serious crime all your rights should be immediatly removed......seeing as you didn't bother to stick to the law of the land.....or think about anyones else rights when you commited the crime.
"Why should she be immune from the law?
A good result for tenants, I'd say
"
I bet you wouldn't be saying that if he had raped you!
Everyone is subject to the law, even the landlords of convicted rapists. Same way everyone has the right to legal aid, even if they're defending themselves against charges of rape (saw someone slagging that off earlier in this thread, classic... habeas corpus anyone? Right to a fair trial?). It's rights and responsibilities that EVERYONE has.
Your rights ARE removed if you're in prison - most of your basic human rights however remain, in general things like the right to not have the sh*t kicked out of you by guards, be discriminated against or be tortured. When you're just charged with a crime, not convicted, none of this applies; the point was, this bloke wasn't convicted at the time, therefore should have been presumed innocent, regardless of the outcome of his trial.
I know some of the Daily Mail hang 'em and flog 'em group might be a little peeved at this whole "innocent until proven guilty" or "human rights" thing, but that's the way the law works.0 -
Jesus you don't get it do you.......why should a person be given rights when he decided that he doesn't have to apply those same rights you or i have.
HE HAD A CHOICE and decided he was above them for whatever reason....so if he is willing to take away peoples rights then surely he can have his taken away......and this country was civilised back in the 60's 70's 80's when kids could quite happerly play on the streets and people could leave their doors open
Its only since we've had these so called rights that crime has risen....amazing FACT that eh?
Lets look at a topic thats on this very forum....a person has very nasty neighbours....yet can do NOTHING and no one will do ANYTHING to help them....so whos rights are being taken now? yet you still think that these people should be free to continue with what their doing??
This is simple...its called right and wrong....you do wrong you pay for it SIMPLEIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
For heaven's sake! Cope is quoted as saying "it (the eviction?) caused problems between me and my wife".
So his repeated and rapidly escalating tally of vicious sex crimes were as nothing to his wife? All that mattered were his possessions which the landlady has "put into storage". Give us all a !"£$%%^^& breaK!
Has anyone set up a support fund for this landlady? If so, please give me the address and bank details. I'll be first in the queue at the bank tomorrow to send her a fiver.0 -
but said he had been 'angry and stressed' by the eviction.
'It has caused problems between me and my wife,' he told Eastbourne County Court.
Poor Lamb !!
Course he was stressed about the flat - it took his mind off the possibility of facing a life sentence for rape
I also hope that the problems between him & his wife had more to do with her discovering he was an animal, than anything to do with a rented flat.0 -
Jesus you don't get it do you.......why should a person be given rights when he decided that he doesn't have to apply those same rights you or i have.
Because they're fundamental rights, given to everyone by not only British legislation but also the UN Convention on Human Rights. Its only since we've had these so called rights that crime has risen....amazing FACT that eh?
Hardly a fact, statistics show that crime has fallen. Not to mention, crime has historically risen before, when the Human Rights Act etc was not in force. I'm not implying any causation here, that the introduction into law of basic human rights for all has reduced crime; quite the opposite, that they've had no effect.Lets look at a topic thats on this very forum....a person has very nasty neighbours....yet can do NOTHING and no one will do ANYTHING to help them....so whos rights are being taken now? yet you still think that these people should be free to continue with what their doing??
No, but then nobody has advocated that they should. Just that people should FOLLOW THE LAW, even when breaking it would have negative consequences for someone who's done bad things.0 -
However noxious this character may be, there is something quite noxious about handing over implementation of justice to landladies with the power of confiscation. Landladies deciding justice. There is something quite [dare I say it] perverted about your world view.as i said when CONVICTED!! crime has RISEN geatly since prisoners started to get their rights......so you do the maths
I'm very much for innocent till proven guilty.....but once convicted....then your rights should be removed
This guy didn't just steal a car or commit fraud......he raped a teenager....not once but twice.....rights my !!!
we'll see if you think guys like this should have rights when your the victimAfter the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -
How is it perverted??
she didn't confiscate it she put it in storage......or is it ok for her to lose any rent coming in??? and MAYBE lose the house?? thats ok that is in your eyes
Did you know a burglar can SUE you if he is injured while burglaring your house........thats what HUMAN RIGHTS has done to this so called Justice system
And its because of Morons like you that this country gives MORE RIGHTS to the criminals than to its victims!!! roll on the day we have a Govement that actually stands up against the stupid human rights groups that exsist.
Infact as soon as he was found guilty he should have had everything he owns sold and any money made given to his victimIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
So name a single right which I have said criminals should have and victims shouldn't? Quickly, before you start looking stupid.... One wonders what Cat695 would say if he is later found not guilty on an appeal.0
