    Just as a side issue...

I don't agree with the term 'visitor' when describing someone posting on this board, because surely as a member of the forum we are ALL entitled to post and respond wherever on the site we wish to so long as we stick within the rules. Saying that someone can't do that unless they're in debt or have posted a lot here before just reinforces the notion that it's ever so slightly cliquey on the DFW board IMHO.

Back to M&S- They do stock really nice Christmas cards, I'm a meany and don't tend to send very many, but for the people like my Mum, who seems to be friendly with half the world:p , the sales that they have in Jan/Feb for the Xmas stock are a great idea. She gets most of her cards at about a quarter of the full price then puts them away for later.

It is very easy to tell when it is Christmas!

That is when all the Easter eggs start appearing in the shops.

Creme Eggs were in our local newsagent's on Boxing Day last year!
  • It's not only this country it happens. I was on holiday somewhere very hot at the end of September one year and some of the local shops on the island had started to sell Christmas stuff (probably for the tourists - not that many went there!) What was also bizarre they played Christmas songs the changing rooms in the swimming pool! That was weird!
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)

Righty then, I'm off to tot up your total posts & then work out the proportion that have been on DFW just to see if I do actually owe one ;) I may be some time... but meantime, I agree that just because you dont have a sig
that declares your debts as most of us on here do; that doesnt actually mean that you arent a DFW,
will that do for starters ;)

Wills been on this since 2005, and i know for a fact he used to post quite a bit, and anyways i have to say what right have you got to criticise someone for having an opinion, everyones entitled to it, especially as it says at the top of every page please be nice to all money savers.

Just because someone doesnt post on MSE or DFW boards doesnt mean they you have to turn around and say their views are irrelevant because they are not here every second of the day.

And for your info I started posting on here 3 years ago, cleared nearly all my debt and helped a heck of a lot of people on the way, you can check my post history if it bothers you that much.

Really how rude are those comments, no wonder I dont post here very much anymore.

Now to the point, yes it is rediculous it does seem every year we get the xmas junk in the windows earlier, but shops have to make money and this is there biggest earner of the year so naturally they are going to try and entice people in, especially in todays economic climate.

I personally wont need wrapping paper this year as I bought a load of the stuff last new years for 50p in a clearance sale, and then I bought a load of nice looking silver star present tags, which will cover this years gifts, and guess what, I paid 5 pence for them lol.

I recall unpacking plastic Xmas trees onto the shop floor and a customer asking me how big the 6ft Xmas trees were, well with out thinking I instantly replied 6ft. My colleagues were rolling around on the floor unable to control their laughter. It was moments like this that kept me sane working in a shop at Xmas. (this probably happened in April)

    Um, Kevicho,

those smilies were there to show the humour, we do have that on this board as I'm sure you know if you've been such a reglar in the past. I never said any posters comments were irrelevant, I merely questioned that Willsnarf was actually a Debt Free Wannabe as there was nothing in his sig to suggest that he was. Yes, I know that it's not imperative to declare one' personal debt / credit status but I do think you're being a tad oversensitive unlike Willsnarf himself who seemed to fully appreciate that I was being humourous unlike you good self. Anyway, I am now thoroughly bored of this topic so I'm off to cause offence elsewhere

    Hey Will!! How's life?

Lula, I can vouch for this guy - he introduced me to this board back in 2006 so I can def say I owe him a drink for having saved me my sanity and indirectly has helped to pay off a whole chunk of my debt.........def a DFW!

    Hi Hypno,

I've inadvertently created strife here & that was not my intention, I'm an admirer of your achievements & if Will helped you out, that's great, think my comment was misinterpreted & I never meant to be disparaging of him personally so please forgive & both of you  on me
