I am such an idiot, I really should know better.
I have managed to delete all my photos from my Kodak easy share. You can still see the photo albums but there is a jagged line through the middle. When you click on the photos it says file not found. Is it possible to put this right.
This is what I did, I was putting a couple of photos from my phone on to my collection, even though I had easy share open adobe opened, as I have photos on there as well I thought its ok dont really matter. After I had downloaded the phone adobe copied all my easy share photos over, as I have all these photos in a collection already I decided to delete them from the adobe collection, it stated the file was to big for the recycle bin so do I want to delete premenatly. When I went back to my easy share, by now thinking I hope I have not done anything stupid, I noticed what had happend.
After getting over feeling sick I tried to do a system resore but it would not restore. I have found a restore tool from pc tools as recommened by Dr Phill, but before I do any more damage thoght best come on here to see if you lot can help.
Any advise you can give would be wonderfull. I do have over half of these photos backed up but not all.
I run windows 2000 XP
Please help before the wife comes home.

I am not sure what Kodak easyshare is, but assuming it is on you computer and not an online storage, then all you photos will still be on your hard drive, a normal delete simply removes all the instruction (directions if you like) for your computer to find them. They are all still there until they are over-written.
The tool Dr Phill suggest may well find them, or in the past I have found this one effective.

Try using Recuva available here...
http://www.recuva.com/
It's free and has worked for me in the past."Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

Yes it may take a while, depending on the size of your drive, and how much free space it has, basically it is going to find every file that has been deleted and not overwritten unless you are using a filter, that could be a heck of a lot of files.thanks both i am trying the recuva one as we speak but it is taking a long time think i have got it though thanks once againHope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

hi tradetime
i am now on my laptop as the other comp is tied up with my recover problem. i thought i could just leave it to do its stuff but i am finding if i dont scroll down myself it does not go any further than page it is on so 6 hours later i am only about a quarter of the way through, i will have to leave it on all night but i am concerned it will just stay on the bit that i leave it on. if that makes sence.
when i do get to the end and press recover how do i know the photos will go back to where they belong ie back in kodak easy share and more importantly in the correct album.

As to the program, I am not familiar with that particular one. The ones I have used will allow you to select a destination when you click on the recover, in case not take it slow because it will tell you where it is going to recover the files to and you would need to take note of that.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

there are about 1500 photos to recover so i am guessing thats an awfull lot so it will take a while so i am happy so far because i see a lot of the photos i have lost so i must be doing something right

Chris, I don't know how you got on with the recovery of your photos, I hope it went well. I just wanted to let you know that I came across another piece of software specifically designed for the recovery of digital media such as photographs whilst trying to help someone with lost data.
From what I can see, this seems to be a pretty powerful image recovery software, so if you are unable to recover your photos with the one you are using, this would be worth a try.
It's called PC Inspector Smart Recovery and it is free.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Thanks for posting this - touch wood I have never lost any photos - but boy have I come close! I have bookmarked the page, if the reviews are anything to go by, it is a program worth knowing about.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I have installed it in a test system and there were no problems with install, has been scanning for an hour, takes a very long time, but appears to dig up a lot of images. I can't say it is better than this or that, but I can say it is a very thorough recovery program.zzzLazyDaisy wrote: »Thanks for posting this - touch wood I have never lost any photos - but boy have I come close!
