Is this quote for some company/you to build? Would all my other (that I have on my PC)software run OK on the 64 bit windows? Would I still be able to keep my old hard drive?
That quote comes from PC Specialist on the home page click on £1000 under Specialist gaming systems. Then at the bottom of the page select "Configure this PC" and make the changes you want
Dunno about the software and hdd, Tony would be better to answer that as he runs 64bit, and I'm guessing knows quite a bit more about PC's than I do.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

I want some commission, I keep pushing it but only because its the MSE answer. Haynes 'Build Your Own Computer' and you can even borrow it from the library.
I'd love to see what sort of spec and bells and whistles you'd come up with for a grand.0 -
Don't forget the mac comes with pro-sumer versions of video and dvd software as STANDARD

The Apple store will also basic train you how to use them "for free"
Your techie mate will probably not need to know how to fix a mac is it less likely to catch a virus etc, and with firewire as standard a camcorder film can be loaded onto it in real time, and then edited in iMovie. Processing time will be similar as they use the same Intel chips as real pcs

Is a high spec graphics card really necessary for video editing? I thought they were only necessary for heavy duty 3d graphics eg games.Charlie0

They offer a service, for £79 per year, of weekly training on how to use the computer for movies etc. This is an hour per week instore. I was most impressed.0 -

Indeed they do. Basic training is free - you only need to pay the £79 / USD 99 for 1-2-1 training (1 hour per week for a year)0
