Like other posters here, the BOGOF's are the only attraction Morrison's has for me. I don't find them particularly cheap & have yet to see any of the brand name cat foods on offer. The seeded Ryvita's cost around 10p a pack more than any of the other supermarkets charge.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Well I am really pleased with Morrison's, we hardly ever used to shop at Safeways because it was so expensive but we do our weekly shopping in Morrisons now which is nearby and we always save ourselves at least £15.00, normally more, we shop for a family of 5 and sometimes only spend £40 cos thats all we can afford. With all the offers and the Bogofs and the instore reduction we get a decent shop and most of the staff are really nice and helpful. As for security I find it reassuring not threatening.
    Money's too tight to mention!!!

I have to say I prefer Morrisons to our local supermarkets (Sainsburys and Asda).
And yes, its fair to say the BOGOFs are excellent, I saved a third on my twice monthly shop last week.
I think prices are fine, some things are cheaper in Asda/ Sains/Tescos etc but there is also things that is cheaper there, so its a case of swings and roundabouts with prices.
I find I always spend more when I do a shop in Asda and come away with a lot more from Morrrisons.

The layout is a little unusual, but what we do is go straight up the vegatable asisle first the along the top of the shop then go down the furthest aisle. That way you get all the "Mini Shops" they have set up ie Pie Shop, Cheese Shop, Fresh meat Counter, Fresh Bread Shop etc.

Yes, some stores do have pay trollies, but then so do our local Asda/ Sainsburys and Tesco. You can buy a keyring now for a pound with a £1 coin shaped disc on so you never have to struggle for change when you get to the shop.

    JMO anyway :)

PS and I also agree with Calmgirl...Security is there for a purpose. I've never felt threatened by security in any shop, not just Morrisons. After all things will get nicked and if that prevents some little scrote doing so and keeping the costs down bring them on.

I used to shop at Morrisons all the time as I felt you got much more for your money. Recently though, I have thought their prices have crept up and now they are just like the other stores - for me, not worth passing all the other stores to get to Morrisons.

I sometimes pop into Morrisons when I am over that way. The special offers are good, but watch out for the BOGOFs that are reduced. You don't get the BOGOF! A couple of weeks ago I bought some things that were £1.99 each, on bogof. They were reduced to £1.49, when they went through the till, I was watching to see if £1.99 or £1.49 would come off and I didn't see anything come off. I queried it with the sales assistant, and she told me that you don't get bogofs on reduced items. I was flabergasted and pointed out that that meant I was expected to pay an extra 99p for reduced items, her reaction was that the person putting the reduced sticker on should have covered the bogof sticker!

I told her I didn't want the items then, so she called a superviser. I explained the problem to her, and she also said that you don't get bogofs on reduced items, I told her that they were the only supermarket to do that. They offered to get me two full price items so that I could get the bogofs, but I told them that I wasn't interested.

Having said that, their pop is 3 bottles for 99p, so that is cheap. And if I have lunch there (I often pop in after weigh in at Slimming World, so I am peckish) I have an egg mayo sandwich (this comes on a tray with lettuce, two tomato slices and a slice of cuecumber, and a small packet of ready salted crisps) for £1.29, and a coffee for 69p, so that is less than £2 for lunch, and it stops me buying things I shouldn't lol

I just buy their special offers, and maybe some other things I might need that day, I feel it is worth it for what I do, but I don't think I would drive over that way just to go there, or at least not as often as I do.

We have a Morrisons, Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys within 3 miles and I find Morrisons to be the cheapest of all of them. Their fruit and veg and bakery department are excellent and the prices throughout the store compare favourably with the others.

    Hi,
We live over the road from Morrisons, and I prefer it for FOOD shopping compared to Tesco and Asda. We find it a lot cheaper for staples like fruit & veg, bread, and always stock up on BOGOFS e.g. there's usually a vegetarian frozen offer such as bean burgers, veggie grills etc on all the time, and some sort of cooking sauce - pasta bake, chicken tonight etc. Their fresh meat is very reasonable - chinese style turkey and pork great for your own stir frys. Often very good wine deals on - Kumala Pinotage £8 per bottle on BOGOFF at moment. As someone else mentioned, their stalls around the side of the shop are great - and I've not seen a fresh fish counter or as much choice in Asda or Tesco, pies are good - and reductions can be great 50p for a roast chicken or a bag of pies - perfect for freezing and for packing ups.
I've found that on the occasions they are more expensive than Tescos/Asda, it is usually pennies, whereas its not the case the other way round (Recent example 6 sharon fruit 99p Morrisons , 4 for £1.50 in Tescos!!!!)
If I want a book Asda and Tesco are cheaper, and they don't do clothes and their homeware isn't a patch either at Morrisons. And like other people have posted, doesn't bother me about security guards, good on 'em for protecting their business and preventing price rises to cover missing stock.
Of course Morrisons can't match the prices of Lidl, but I think it's great for the things I can't get in Aldi or Netto :) Oh and Morrisons is TONNES cheaper than Sainsburys!!!
    HTHs.
BTW, We got Whiskas dried food on offer last week, buy two packs save £1. And one of our cats developed a food allergy recently - Morrisons own brand cat food is one of the only ones she can eat at the moment!

I think morrisons are cheaper than asda and sainsbury's. I have tesco and morrisons nearby and try to check prices each week. Morrisons offers are good but sometimes I think tesco is cheaper for basic groceries. Now I check out Morrisons for the offers and then go and do the rest of my shopping in tesco. Lidl prices are better but I don't think the quality is as good.
  • we only go to our local store in stranraer rarely. staff are very unfriendly and rude.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, it seems to be about 50/50 whether people like it or not so I guess the only thing is I'll have to check it out for myself and see. Thanks again.
