Can a ISP refuse to give you a Migration Authentication Code?
Abel Always have refused to give me the code as they state that other ISP's don't participate in the scheme and they often incurr the cost of setting up new connections.
My question is "are they obliged to give me the code"?
Look forward to your responses

Hi there,
I always thought that ISPs had to provide you with a MAC (in the same way mobile networks should give you a PAC, but upon googling it appears tht they're not...
See HERE
Although, note that the article was written in April 2005 and Ofcom may have changed the rules since then, but I'd definitely try calling your ISP back and asking for the code again; it does seem a bit unfair that they won't provide it!0 -
Thanks for that.
I'll give it another go with 'Abel Always' but I don't expect much. Perhaps refusal to give MAC codes should be a big NO NO when choosing an ISP as no-one wants to pay for reconnections if they change ISP.
Even if Abel Always refuse to give me the MAC code I'll have to shift anyway because I currently pay £22.91 for a 512kb connection.
I will update this thread if Abel do give us the code.
