Extractor hood dispute

Hi,
We are fitting an extractor hood in our kitchen, with a vent going through our wall out onto our neighbours boundary. We checked with our neighbour a few months ago and she agreed, we then asked her again last week and again she agreed. We have now started to fit the hood and I mentioned in passing that we would be fitting the vent today, she then said that we would not be able to as it would be crossing her boundary and she would be able to block it off if she wanted to.
Is this correct? As we have already started to fit the hood we cannot return it and it will be very difficult to run the pipe work any where else. We have a good relationship with our neighbour so will probably be able to sort some sort of compromise out but I am struggling to find out what we can and cannot do.
Thanks for your help,
Emma.

You need to be a little more descriptive in just how it would cross the boundary. A photo might be helpful.0

Agreed,....surely all your neighbour would see would be the vent grille?
If you have to cross the boundary in order to fix it, then of course you would need permission.0 -
There would be a small grill fitted to our outside wall but on her side for the air extracted from the kitchen. It is not a problem for us to go onto her property for the work. She is saying that when she checked with the council they said that either the grill overhanging or any smell/fumes that could come through would be classed as crossing her boundary and she would be within her rights to block it off if it was causing a disturbance to her. I would post a photo but there is only a wall at the moment, we have only hung the hood in the kitchen.0

unfortunately she is within her rights we had to pay extra to divert the pipework for a new combi just so it would not vent on the neighbours side even though it was high up .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Can you adjust the hood to vent back into the room with an appropriate filter?0

Can you adjust the hood to vent back into the room with an appropriate filter?
Only if there's no other option. The main use for extractor hoods is to remove steam and heat from the room. If you recycle the air you won't remove the steam or heat.
When I built an extension I was advised to build slightly back from the boundary to avoid exactly this issue.0 -
That's not on!Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
My hood vents out over my patio area and it stinks! I wouldn't want to inflict that on a neighbour. Can you fit some sort of chimney so it vents upwards maybe?0

She was refused planning to carry out any extensions so the space would never be used. We have offered to fit a pipe so the fumes will be coming out at roof height but she has refused that as well saying that it would be unsightly and may put off any future buyers, I tried to compromise by offering to paint it white same as the wall and reminding her that the pipe would start several feet off the ground but she is adament. Think we will have to have an expensive ornament! She has at least offered to pay for it as she initially misled us.0
