Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!       I'm currently posting from my lappy because my PC has been completely destroyed by a virus.       Be careful everyone if you get an email from Hawaiin Airlines because I didn't open the attachment (which contains the virus according to a quick search on Google) and my PC has still been infected.
I know it's not as serious as having bank details stolen but it's still bloody annoying when you lose everything on your PC.

Many thanks for the warning:A Have received quite a few of these Airline ones, also hotel booking ones, have deleted all without opening. Will continue to do so, would like to warn others that the******s also send ones saying "We have received payment from your credit card, please download attachment as proof of payment":mad::mad: I opened the e-mail in a panic but as soon as I calmed down I realised it was dodgy. So watch out peeps. Sorry to hear of these problems. I would recommend Mailwasher http://www.mailwasher.net basic (which is all you need) is free
With it you can open the email in text mode without downloading to your PC so no chance of infection. Very quick to scan through all the spam to see if there are any WEMs :j 0 -
Thanks for this Wombat21, I for one will give it a try

There is a particularly nasty virus about at the moment - picked it up last weekend but not sure where from. Sorted now but son and friend have had their PC completly mucked up. These banking emails drive me crackers - we always delete unopened. Tried forwarding them to the Banks but not sure there is any point in this as there are so many of them.2025 Decluttering Campaign 1051/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅🏅) 🌟🌟🌟

I received a phising email from Lloyds TSB today as well, looked so real as well I can see how some people can fall for it! Co-Operative bank have a big disclaimer on their internet banking before you even get to the security page advising that they never ever ask for pin numbers etc.2008 - £6,000.00, 2009/10 - Didn't comp

Hi, I work for a bank and would like to confirm (a) if you send them they are investigated and (b) as far as I am aware no banks actually send links in their emails, they usually give you a reference to quote and a tel no. I maybe wrong but I know that we never send any link in our emails. HTH.ITV Winners Club Member (106)

Thanks for info on Mail washer Wombat but need help. Have orange webmail which is an fsmail.net addy for comps which I need this for. My default for email is Incredimail my personal one. Cant set Mail washer up. On custom set up it asks for POP details
then user name 'which one
' and password. is it my talktalk details, my computer one or what:o 0 -
I get a lot of these every day, although I always delete them unopened (as none of them are banks I have any dealings with), so wouldn't know if they had my personal details in them.
I got one from 'ebay' the other day - it was very good, but I just had an off feeling about it, so didn't click on the links but went to ebay and checked my account - which was fine. I forwarded the email to ebay who confirmed it was a 'spoof' - fake email.
Worrying to know this one had your details in Jade. I hope you forwarded it to internetsecurity@barclays.co.uk who say they will investigate and make sure the fake site is closed down asap.
eta - I can't get mailwasher to work either - only works with some emailsJo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52
